Aster Orb

The Aster Orb is a semi-sold that looks and feels glassy, it can be sold to any color, and the buyer sets the pattern that they wish, though Locraft keeps track of all the patterns to make sure that no two people have the same one. They go for a high price due to how much time and materials are needed to make, plus the imports for those materials, making this item a pretty rare one to come by.

Utility

The Aster Orb is used for long-distance communications. The user must use a finger and draw out a pattern that is assigned to the other orb, applying the pressure will cause the surface to become liquid and then hold the shape long enough to draw out the pattern. The connection is made though this does not work across other planes or dimensions.

Manufacturing

First, they have to make the semi-liquid substance; then they have to put into a mold so the orb can get its shape. They then hire up an enchanter to invert the properties so that way the material is solid at rest and liquid when pressure is applied. Not only do they reverse the properties, but they also make it hold its shape, so even if being held, but the orb will also continue to stay that way. After that, it requires to be enchanted for long-distance communications.
Access & Availability
Due to how much time and resources it takes to make an Aster Orb, not people own it, and it was only recently (as of 1850) that the orb sold worldwide, even then it was costly because of importing and exporting. So the only people in their own continent are the leaders and outside would mostly be large businesses and some leaders for more accessible communication.
Complexity
First, you need to make the mixture for the semi-liquid material, then put it into a mold to be enchanted three times.
Discovery
The previous alchemist leader of Locraft was mixing different ingredients to see what kind of potion he could make, was not until they tried mixing water and corn starch, creating a semi-liquid material. Interested, he brought it to the attention of his co-leader, the leader of the crafters, and they both worked together to see what they could do.
