Arklent

Dark and silent, the beasts prowl and hunt for any unsuspecting prey. The
plants waiting for any newcomers or bystanders to pass on by so that they may consume the souls or flesh of its victims. An ecosystem is so deadly that the demons leave you alone, knowing full well that you would not survive for long. Though dangerous the environment seems to be dying out, making everything hard to get and lively hood of the residents difficult and rises crimes. Each year the chances of death rises and the population have been on the decline for the past few years.

Cyrus, the ruler of the layer, who has lost his mind, is doing nothing about
it, letting people die off and even kills some of his own from time to time. His son Aser has been trying to come up with ways to keep the layer up and running along with the help of Anthea, so far nothing has come of it. Arklent may one day no longer have a living ecosystem or any inhabitants, but let us see what the future has in store.

Geography

Arklent is entirely dark, Light from the material plane only travels 5ft in the time, and those with darkvision can see in the day time. Once it's the night, it is completely blackout, if you do not have the light source used in this layer you will not be able to see, and you might as well try to get — some rest. Sound also only travels 5ft unless you scream loud enough or are in a building. This layer gives off madness to anyone that is not of the abyss, after one day, depending on the person will, they may gain a short term of madness this will get worse as the days progress.

Dessert

The deserts of the Arklent only have mounds of burning ash. On bad days there would be ash storms that will burn anyone.

Savvanas

The ground is compacted dirt with some hair-like grass. Often the ash from the dessert might cross on over. Some times it rains down a black liquid mist. The ground is pretty flat with only a few little hills

Arctic

The ground is crystalized blood with occasional body part or bone inside the crystals. Soft black mist gently falls to the ground and solidifies the ground, turning red, creating a soft red layer on top of the crystal blood. The Arctic biome has large crystal mountains that are said to be keeping a beast underneath it

Forest

The floor made up of flesh, squishy lukewarm flesh. This biome has large mountains not as big as the Arctic.

Ocean

Water burst through the ceiling and fell through the floor, starting to flood the Layer. So Cyrus made a barrier to keep the water from drowning the entire place, leaving behind a wall of water that is called the ocean.

Fauna & Flora

There are all kinds of Flora and Fauna in Arklent, but it's also hazardous to both inhabitance and habitats. Some animals will show no mercy, stalk you, or even trick you. There is Flora that will melt skin, steals souls, or straight up drive you insane. Any adventure should tread carefully. You never know what you will run into since it's pitch dark.

Flora

The flora can be hazardous if you are not able to see in the dark do not come here. Some of the flora is carnivorous and well try to consume you. The flora is so deadly that the demons inhabiting this layer will go after you, they know you won't survive long. There are beautiful planets and a lot of them as well as the deadly ones. There are herbs and food resources, but you also must be careful, the skin of the food could be poisonous.

Forest Flora

Trees

There are two kinds of trees, one is like a willow tree, but the leaves are hair, human, elf, gnome if the race has hair it could be that. The trunk is made of crystallized blood with a spinal cord right in the middle. The other kind of tree is deadly or those that are not born in Arklent, completely made of the flesh of any race. The leaves completely made of soft flesh with hands hanging onto them like pine cones. If someone where to cut into this tree, the tree would start to bleed and shake. Inside the tree are muscle, cartilage, and bone.

Flowers and Bushes

There are flowers and bushes made of cartilage and black crystals. Some herbs might try to eat anyone that tries to touch it. The black diamonds can be poisonous. They could also be completely safe, all you have to do is look at the ovules.

  • Does the ovules have teeth?
  • Does the petals have teeth?
  • Does it have a long stem?
  • And is it made of cartilage?

if all of these is a no, then the flower or bush will not try to eat you, but it could be deadly to the touch or irritate the skin

  • Does it have leaves grouped up in five?
  • Is the black more of a gray or have no transparency?
  • Does it have sharp edges?
  • Are there little round orbs under the leaves?

If half is true, then it will irritate the skin if most are true, then it is deadly to eat, if all are true, then it is deadly to touch.

Fungi

The type of fungi there quite a few Fungi to watch out for in the forest. One that grows on dead bodies, this fungi looks like black ooze and feels slimy, that slimy is deadly if you have any open wounds, the fungi would instantly start moving to the nearest and smallest cut and start eating away at the body. Once dead, the fungi start eating away everything else, not even the most carnivorous beast will eat a dead body over a few days old.

The next fungi that grow only on trees, dead or alive. they grow eatable mushrooms, and some that are not there is only a slight difference between the two but no matter it's still tough to tell the difference. The side effects of the poisonous are high fever followed by chest pain and on the last and final stage is a migraine and sudden stop of the heart. The eatable one tastes whatever the person's favorite flavor is, plus cause the person to feel like they are in a dream state.

The last most notable one is on the ground. There are blemishes on the ground and if stepped on the fungi will hold the person still and the start to grow onto them, slowly eating away but once the person has fully consumed the fungus stays in place, leaving behind a silhouette of the person that was there

Arctic Flora

Trees

Trees are not able to root in the crystal ground, there is only one type of tree that can grow, and it's the same one that is in the forest. If there is a tree, be on high alert.

Flowers and Bushes

The flowers are like vines with small little thorns on their stems, covering a small area. If a person gets poked, they will be paralyzed and be numb for 24 hours. Some flowers will give you frostbite unless resistant to the cold. There are two kinds of bushes, one that will act a full meal and one that will slowly freeze from the inside out. The only way to tell the difference between the two is the leaves. If the leaves are bumpy, then the barry will slowly freeze a person from the inside, whoever touched those leave are going to want also to wash their hands.

Fungi

Most of the Fungus in the Arctic is under the ground, but there is one that creeps up the roots of dying willow tree if anything living is within 5ft of the infected tree will also become infected. If a living creature were to get within 5ft of the infected tree, their soul would be removed and replaced, becoming a minion of the fungus to spread.

There is one fungus perfect for potions. The fungus is a giant mushroom made of thin skin. You can see some blood flowing through veins and a beating heart that causes the mushroom to pules. Because of what this fungus made out of digesting it raw will cause a fatal illness similar to what you would get from cannibalism, no matter what race or creature you are. It takes a master herbalist, alchemist, or chef to make it eatable since only a specific part can be eaten and used while the rest gets discarded.

Desert Flora

Trees

Just like the Arctic, there are no trees due to the intense heat and frequent ash storms.

Flowers and Bushes

Unlike the flora in other biomes, the desert has brightly colored flowers (though not seen due to darkvision). The plants can either melt your skin off, give off poisonous gas, or try out your insides.

  • Is the plant giving off heatwaves?
  • Does the plant look the most desirable to eat?
  • Is the plant bulb-like?
  • Does it look like it has eyes?

If there are heatwaves, bulb-like and or looks like it has eyes, then it will melt your skin off or give off poisonous gas. If it looks good to eat and or looks like it has eyes, then it will dry you out from the inside out.

Fungi

There is a large mushroom, standing over 35 ft tall with two mouths. One side is friendly and will do no harm, and the liquid that drips from its mouth is healing, but the other side is very deadly and aggressive. When approaching this mushroom, you do not know what side is which until you get closer, by then you best act quickly. The mushroom has all the different types of fungus from other biomes so tread carefully. It is highly unlikely to come across this mushroom fully grown. You are more likely to find the same version at 4ft tall and has nondeadly fungi growing at its base.

Savanna Flora

Trees

There is a tree where the wood is completely Black, and the leaves are transparent. This tree is susceptible to light, so much as dim light can cause it to start smoking. They grow in bunches and is normally surrounded by large vines with thorns so having any bright light can be very dangerous. It looks porcelain, feels like porcelain, but knock on it, you'll find that it sounds like wood, this kind of tree's trunk is bloated due to the type of creature that lives inside and the large holes that are scattered all over the tree looks like it has rows of teeth from all kinds of races.

Flowers and Bushes

There are large thick vines with thorns that are sprawled all over the biome. It's unclear on where the beginning is, but there are theories. Some planets will steal the soul of those that walk by. It's possible to block with some a shield. Some planets will latch onto you, wrapping their vines and drain you of your blood and some that turn people into ash.

  • Does the plant of floating leaves?
  • Does it have fangs on its leaves?
  • Does it have more than seven leaves grouped?
  • Is the petals in a cylinder shape?

If the leaves are floating, stay far away, at least a good 20ft away. If there are fangs, keep an eye on the ground. Don't step on anything that is not the ground. If there are 7 or more grouped leaves, do not touch the same if the petals are a cylinder-shaped. If these are true, watch the ground and stay at least 50ft away from the planet, though this would be extremely rare.

Fungi

There are two kinds of fungus that grow in the Savanna. One that stalks anything living, waiting for it to die so it can start consuming the corpse. If it has been following for more then a day, it will start releasing fumes that cause people to get confused and dazed, and they normally start to hallucinate, everything dangerous no longer looks dangerous and everything that would be helpful and may even save your life suddenly seem like they would not. You cannot see these, but you can hear them move from under the ground.

The second one grows herbs as it eats away at anything dead, but the herbs are very deadly to touch, and some spew poison. Once wholly eaten away, there will be a sizeable compact patch of herbs that can be used for herb-based poisons if prepared right for food and in some unusual cases healing potions.

Ocean Flora

There is not Flora in the ocean due to it being dark, and none of Arklents planets could survive in the immense pressure and all the water.

Fauna

There are hundreds of different kinds of creatures, not all aggressive. Since it is completely dark in Arklent, that means a lot of animals may have some glow or is transparent in some way or another. Many will stalk their prey or maybe even protect. It all depends on treatment. There are a lot of insects large and small, some hard to find some not. Animals that can turn invisible or blend into the background and birds that lay nests in the ground or trees.

Forest Fauna

Carnivores

Ikne: (ik-ne) - Rodent, like creature, with long bunny ears, reddish medium fur, a tube-like mouth, like a mosquito. They have a long tail that is sharp at the end, and poisonous. Two small front paws that they use to quickly dig away dirt and two long back legs to help them jump around above ground. These creatures travel underneath the ground, miles away from their homes, made of fresh rotting bodies. They go searching in pacts for warm fresh blood. They search by using vibrations. Once close enough, one stabs the victim with its tail, while the other latches onto the nearest artery and start draining the target of all its blood. There usually is more underground in case the first two starts getting attacked or outnumbered. Once everyone in the hunting pack is filled up with blood, they travel back to their nests and feed their young than themselves. When their nest is far too rotten, they all travel out together, attacking the next nearest warm body or taking habitat in one that was already dead. Etterot: (et-ter-ot) - Small bunny with corse brown hairs, sharp teeth, and claws. Found at the base of fleshed trees, they hide and wait for unsuspecting prey, then hops out, attempting to rip out the organs to feast. They never live in packs, most of their babies are abandoned and rarely survive the harsh wilderness of Arklent, almost always becoming prey to the Ikne.

Herbivores

Shibit: (Shi-bit) - A bird without feathers and a long tail that whips around as it sores through the darkness of arklent. The Shibit in the forest looks for bark that made of wood rather than skin or crystallized blood. It also eats the hairs off of the weeping willows. They are harmless and do not attack. Shibi only flea from any sense of danger. Though they are very focused on their survival and do not breed all that often, making them a rarity to find..

Omnivores

Hallosin: (hal-lo-sin) - Short brown fur, wolf-like features with horns. The Hallosin that inhabits the forest go more for plants than meat, but it won't turn down the smell of fresh flesh if it's hunger desires it. They create their dens from twigs, fur, bone, hair, and flesh of thing they hunted or found on the ground. Their pups are trained to hunt and are more herbivore, which they grow out of when they reach the 1 year. Brecsum: (brec-sum) - Bear like with long black fur, long tail, four eye and fanged teeth that pokes out of its mouth. Brecsums moves slowly and does not stray far from their den that they have dug up from the ground. They are rather lazy when it comes to hunting and only go after plants or something lying dead on the ground. When attacked, they instantly become aggressive. They are not known for a long life span, and the population is on the decline with there being more deaths than births.

Desert Fauna

Carnivores

Ikne: (ik-ne) - Unlike their forest counterpart, they have very short blond fur instead of medium reddish, everything else about their appearance is the same. They do not go underground since its made of ash and would cave in instantly. Cekey: (ce-key) - A canine skeleton with red, blue or orange wisp-like eyes and large bone-like spikes on it's back. These guys often find flesh and place it onto their backs and eat the meat and muscles of its prey. They live in dens with a pack of 10, but hunts alone.

Herbivores

Zialea: (zia-lea) - Humonid, with tiny thorns, not entirely seen unless very close, lively cactus hair, used for picking up defending or attacking. The Zialea go after cactuses to grow larger, starting height being 1/8th of an inch. They do not like to fight, but when engaged, they whip the attacker and try to scurry away at a fast speed. When believed to be far enough away, they then burrow their way into the ashy grounds and flee through the grounds. These creatures breed asexually, once they reach one foot the very surface layer of their skin comes off, creating 2 - 3 more Zialea. Another time would be when they reach five feet, they shed multiple layers of their skin, making 5-10 more. These creatures are almost consistently hungry and instantly starts going out to find food.

Omnivores

Zialea: (zia-lea) - Once they reach to 5ft, they grow sharper teeth, their eyes fall out, and their limbs become for lanky. Though their eyes fall out does not mean they cannot see, their eyes get replaced with something similar to the what the Cekey have for eyes, they can only see the color green and muscle movement and prey can escape by not moving. They now hunt anything with any amount of green and even eats their kind, making them more cannibalistic.

Savanna Fauna

Carnivores

Ikne: (ik-ne) - The savanna version is very similar to the forest, though it has short greenish-yellow fur and is more spread out and has smaller packs. Cekey: (ce-key) - The packs are much larger, and their build is smaller than their desert counterpart. They hunt in more as a pack.

Herbivores

Nubil: (nu-bil) - Long body with corse black fur, completely blind, and creates holes in the ground as their nests. It eats the grass and fallen leaves. When they do not like other creatures coming into their territory, so it mimics the screams of the invaders.

Omnivores

Qealea: (qea-lea) - Deer-like with three fangs poking out of its mouth, two on the side on in the front. They are small creatures with dragon-like wings and long horns that vary in shape and size. They are always in herds, they hunt, travel, and care for their young in herds. These creatures attack with their horns, and their bite is poisonous. They eat souls and meat, but if not available, they eat plants or bark off of a tree.

Unknown

This one is an odd one; no one knows where these guys came from or how long ago. These guys are completely made up of crystallized blood, they only hold vague facial features, and they are completely passive, no one has seen these creatures eat, no one has been able to figure out where it goes to sleep or even if it does sleep. The only thing that anyone was able to learn is that they roam around mostly by themselves, never attacking even when being attacked, they do not fight back.

Though their blood is acidic, if gotten onto your skin it would burn and leave scaring, if gotten only on your weapon, a sword can do a few swings before entirely corroding an arrow is gone as soon at it fully goes through. After the creatures take a hit, it looks like it heals itself, though unclear if it's healing or just filling the area back up again. The creature has only been a few times in groups, and some have reported hearing noises made but stops as soon as they get close enough to be sure. The demons of Arklent have theories on what they are or what they could be, but nothing is supported.

Arctic Fauna

Carnivores

Ikne: (ik-ne) - Their fur is very long and an icy blue, they hide in the blood like trees and stay closer together to keep warm. Etterot: (et-ter-ot) - their fur is not corse, but soft and long. The Arctic version has been known to eat its young when in dire situations.

Herbivores

Nubil: (nu-bil) - Behavior is the same, though they take refuge in trees then the ground, though they are 3 times bigger and have long white fur.

Omnivores

Hallosin: (hal-lo-sin) - The fur is very long is a more pinkish color. The behavior is the same, though they do a little more to their den to make it warmer.

Ocean Fauna

Carnivores

There are hundreds of meat-eating animals most glow in the dark, completely transparent, or is completely blind. There are small fish that swim in swarms and eat anything with meat. If they don't find anything in a week, they turn on each other and resort to cannibalism. There is also an angler fisher that measures to 60- 100 feet long. Their back is transparent, exposing some of its spines, along with lights going down its transparent back and tail. There is a giant squid that is sighted but not confirmed.

Herbivores

Since there are no planets in the ocean is no herbivores, leaving only the carnivores to eat either anyone that enters the ocean or each other.

Omnivores

Omnivores are also not present, but there might be a fish that eats any object either thrown or falls into the ocean, but nothing confirmed.

Natural Resources

Resources are minimal, not many shops craft items or weave fabrics, making such things as clothes costly, to the point that only nobles can afford them. Cyrus had a long time ago has issued a team of researchers to figure out how to make resources more accessible for them to get and to increase the survivability of his people, but after the great war, he abandons the team, and it falls apart. As time goes on, resources get more and more expensive and the people Arklent have to go into the material plane to get what they need to live. Souls are used to lighting up the layer, but there is only so many that get used due to the lack of reproduction of the animals or anything living, most souls are made up of those that have died while entering or those that intrude upon the layer.

Forest

The forest holds many beasts with long fur. Meat is also hard to come by due to how dangerous the animals, making the winter seasons difficult to survive, forced to go without, the populist grows smaller because of it. Unlike most resources, herbs seem to grow just fine, resulting in many foods containing herbs and the cheapest potions being herbal.

Desert

There is next to nothing in the desert, the only thing that demons get out of this biome is heat and maybe some meat other than that there are not many demons that live in this biome. the only ones are the ones that can afford a way of heating.

Arctic

The Arctic has some resources for heating, food, and lighting and there is a slow reproduction, so it's somewhat self-sustaining, but before the research team completely disbanded they suspected that the Arctic would soon no longer become self-sustaining.

Savanna

The Savanna is very much lacking, not as bad as the desert but not like the Arctic. The Savanna has many beasts to consume and use for lighting.

Ocean

There are lots of fish, and this seems to be the most reliable way of getting food, though the most dangerous, it is possible. Though they have not been able to work fast enough to gain any souls to use for lighting and since there is a ban on entering the ocean and it contains no flora this makes getting resources very hard.
