Warforged

Appearance

Warforged are creatures who can appear in a wide variety of ranges. They are made of metal, often steel, though they can be embellished with any metal. Warforged size varied depending on their model, but the most common makes have them at 5-6 ft., with a Human-like size and stature. Their presentation can come in any variety, with artistic etchings upon their metal skin, painted colors, various mechanisms and glowing bits.

Biology

Warforged are created, rather than procreated. They cannot reproduce, except by learning how to create their kind through study. The secret to Warforged creation is held by only the highest ranking Mentats of the Logicmasters, and is among the most coveted secrets of the world. Warforged do not require sleep or sustenance, though they do occasionally have to oil their joints, and must rest (stilll wakeful) to allow themselves to recharge their energy. Most Warforged are barely sentient, only as much as is needed for the reason they were created. Some rare, specially made units are as fully sentient as any living being. Warforged do not appear to be limited by age, and only perish when their bodies fail them. Most of the Warforged units serving at Meridian are retrofitted versions of the ones who originally aided in the Great Purge.

History

Warforged were first created by the Logicmasters halfway through the 3rd Epoch. Though the Logicmasters had great power, they were relatively few in number, and did not have the staying presence and capabilities to manage territory that an army would. The Warforged were produced to give the Logicmasters manpower, a standing army and military force that could supplement a broad application of power to their precise applications of power. Warforged Legions were infamous, acting in perfect harmony to execute maneuvers, sturdy and hard to kill. Warforged Legionnaires were also specially trained to fight alongside Logicmasters, often forcing enemies into condensed groups for Logicmasters area of effect spells to do optimal damage.

After the Great Purge had concluded, the Warforged joined the Logicmasters upon their founding nations of Meridian, changing from a military force to a labor and policing force. Warforged are rarely seen outside of Meridian. Questions about the morality of manipulating sentience are abound, such as what levels of sentience cross the line from animal labor to slavery, and whether creating sentience itself is moral. Some few, specially made Warforged are granted a full range of sentience, and with it all the rights of a citizen. Some of these Warforged choose to venture out into the world beyond Meridian, and have found themselves scattered throughout the world.
