Appearance
Halflings are short and lean, averaging at 3 ft. high. They have nearly as much diversity in their appearance as Humans, sharing their array of complexions, hair colors, and eye colors.
Biology
Halflings have been found to have genetic roots with the Elves, though they differ in many ways, and have no other clear ancestral connections. They reproduce in typical mammalian fashion, with gestation lasting 6 months. Halflings reach full adulthood by age 20, and can live up to 200 years, averaging at about 150 years.
History
Halflings are among the most spread out races throughout all of history. Their natural curiosity and usually friendly demeanors have lead them to travel and assimilate worldwide. Their assimilation within other cultures is so complete, that a shared racial history is difficult to formulate. In the earliest years of history, during the
1st Epoch, Halflings lived in small communities scattered mostly in the woodlands of the world. Their stature and nimbleness allowed them to survive in hidden communities, building their homes in burrows, hollowed tree trunks, and foliage too dense to navigate by larger creatures. This helped them thrive well enough through the threat of both Dragon and Sorcerer. Their unthreatening, often peaceful ways also made them unimportant in the eyes of many conquerors. After the Great Purge of the
3rd Epoch, these communities scattered through the world, through wanderlust and the political upheaval of the
4th Epoch. Now they are found nearly everywhere, and are accepted in almost every culture. Not much more can be said about Halfling history, only that wherever you look in the world, you won't have to go far to find a Halfling involved.
