Basin Fort - Scholar Report
Connecting both sides of the valley, the fort served both as road across the wild river, and a safeguard to the valley exit. The fort is too big for just a small regiment, suggesting that it was more important than they let on to their citizens. While the fort had the option to let ships pass with their masts down, it is clear the river was considered a threat. The fort could essentially be considered a wide bridge flanked by two narrow bridges, with iron gates blocking passage underneath. Wide enough to let two caravans pass each other, the bridge was used during flood season when the rivers were too dangerous to cross.
