The Basin

Still waters run deep, they say. This perfectly fits the feeling of dread we get from the valley mouth. Here the rapid rivers join in a calm lake, leaving the raging of the water behind. Relaxing the sight should be, but after all we've seen in this wretched valley so far? All it does is terrify.

The Basin is located at the western exit of the valley. It is the only low-altitude exit of the valley, with a calm lake followed by a rapid river. Due to the sheer cliff walls surrounding this river, entering the valley this way is extremely hard. As such the Basin forms a natural defense, which is boosted by the Basin Fort located here.

The scholars say that before the valley fell, droughts and floods ended up causing great damage to the existing infrastructure. Even now, the fort lies in ruins and we dare not approach yet, dreading what may be lying in wait. Yet if we want to secure the valley in its entirety, we must bravely face these dark waters and hope nothing dreadful awaits us.

Basin Lake

The main water reservoir of the valley, Basin Lake is where the rivers gather in calm waters. It is unknown what all calls these waters home.

Departure River

Surrounded by cliffs, this river is where the waters from the Basin leave the valley. Historically it was hard to navigate back through.

Basin Fort

A fort located at the start of the Departure River. Large gates used to block creatures and ships from getting through into or out of the valley. Nowadays the place lies in ruins.

Shipwreck Float

When floods struck after a drought, they dragged with them countless smaller and larger ships. Combined with rotting trees, these wrecks now form a floating island of sorts.
