The Ring of Brodgar

Lead, follow, our get out of the way.

Written by Raymondrowell

Situated 20 miles to the northeast of the city of Alisar The Ring of Brodgar is comprised of a megalithic ring of stones around a more recent tomb. The stones encircle an Altar of the same age as the ring.   The tomb itself appears to be a more recent addition to the site as the stonework is off greater quality and shows significantly less wear.   A single path leads to the top of Weather Bluff, a prominent hill in the region, where the ruins lay.   On close inspection, you may notice his strains cover the altar at the center of the ring and a drain has been gouged out to channel the blood away.   A simple inspection reveals that the blood appears to be channeled to the tomb that stands several feet away.

Purpose / Function

The tomb would seem to hold the remains of someone, perhaps a part member of The Elder Brotherhood our even their exalted founder.   The stone ring was once a place for a Druidic council to meet and discuss the affairs of their order.   The stone rings now look to be abandoned as no upkeep seems to be taking place.

Alterations

The stone ring and alter all look to be the original structures here however the tomb is a new edition, for all intents and purposes it could early have been created in the party 50-60 years. Any degree of speculation might place is creation at roughly the same time as The Fallen Star arrived.

Architecture

The ring takes up the entire semi-flat to of the hill, spanning an approximately 60ft. radius, each stone forming a circle around the center platform. The stones themselves are on average 7ft tall and no more than 4ft wide 2ft deep, they appear to be deeply buried in the earth.   The center Altar sits with in a stone depression at the peak of the hill and is dressed by a low stone wall. The platform is 6"5' long and 4ft wide. At its head a drain rings into the ground.   Directly behind the head of the platform a stone tomb is built, it's approximate scale is 15ft deep by 12ft wide with a height of 13ft. The roof is made of bronze and designed into a peak like most houses. The front is sealed by a large bronze door.

History

In times past the ancient Druidic council meet here to discuss the future of this section of The Freelands Of Amery's as it was their territory.   In 2930 a war raged between the ruling class of Amery's and the Alisar Druids, this resulted in the area behind scorched by fire and the druids were forced out.   Their monuments remain.
