Arcanis Cadets

Cadets of Arcanis Academy are high and mid-level witches of Salaris attending the most prestigious and competitive magic academy of the nation. The academy acts as both an institute of higher learning and a mercenary organization, as government agencies, wealthy merchants, and others can pay for the services of academy cadets and Elites.
The academy's para-military style training requires discipline, critical thinking, and above all, mastery and control of magic. Many powerful and affluential people in Salaris have attended Arcanis.

Dress Code

While in classes, attending assemblies, and generally while on campus during the day, Arcanis cadets are expected to be in uniform. This uniform is a light-weight, slate grey, double-breasted ensemble with black combat boots.
Athletic wear, provided by the academy, is permitted during workouts, physical combat training, and after hours, though cadets are encouraged to wear the uniform even then.

Shoulder Bars

A cadet's overall rank is displayed through white bars sewn on the shoulders.

• 3-stripe = highest level cadet before graduation

Colored Armbands

The uniform also includes armbands that signify the school of magic to which a cadet belongs, while a smaller armband reveals the secondary field of magic the cadet is studying. This helps staff readily identify cadets and their abilities and help strengthen bonds within a school of magic.
The top, larger band indicates a cadet's primary magic affinity and the school of magic to which they belong. The bottom, smaller band indicates the cadet's secondary magic study. Entry-level cadets only have their primary band. In a few, rare cases, a cadet may select two subspecialties, but they must demonstrate adequate ability in all chosen magic types and have approval of the academy superintendent.

Unwinding

Arcanis Academy requires seriousness, committment, and stringent adherence to regulation. During their down-time on campus, there are a variety of options for unwinding, such as recreational facilities, including a pool. Cadets often stroll the grounds at night and hang out behind the arena and in other secluded areas.
However, when on leave, many head into nearby Emerson City where they can shop, dine out, and interact with people outside the academy. Cadets in the know often enjoy the Hideout, a secret bar where they can hide from their professors and other academy administrators.
