The Grafted and Meta

Background

During the Great Collapse two major nations, Russian Federation and People's Republic of China, have allied themselves in order to combine their resources for the ascention of a new planet - Eden. Chinese spacecraft was supposed to land first carrying majority of the resorces and energy generators with Russian smaller ship to follow shortly after. Unfortunately the agreement terms were not met. Russians have arrived with a 30 years delay and were denied entry to Eden with a missile threat upon entering the atmosphere. Pressed for time and resources they had no choice but to land on one of Eden's 2 moons.

Eden was a beautiful planet, full of life and resources and almost no predators to threaten humanity. It was twice the size of Earth and had double the gravity. Due to the gravity being so strong the air molecules were densily packed together, creating a thick buoyant atmosphere for seeds to drift through attracting giant flying herbivores that were able to ride on a dense pillow of air. Even though the weight of most animals is twice what it would be on Earth the atmosphere on Eden is able to keep them airborne.

While the Chinese were colonizing Eden and establishing new order - TRD (T'eng Royal Dynasty), Russians were settling down on its natural gas made satellite, Yanna. It was primarily composed from hydrogen and helium. Both gases if inhaled in big amounts lead to severe oxygen depriviation, which then causes hypoxia that results in cyanosis, a blue discoloration of the skin. Severe hypoxia would become gangrenous. Russians have started a massive prouction of bionic limbs and other bodily implant devices to replace their decaying organs. They were also able to convert hydrogen into a new energy source, which allowed them to continue living. Due to weak gravity on Yanna an average human have become 7ft tall. The Russians have named themselves Federacia.

The drawback of the strong gravity of Eden was its ability to pull asteroids onto a collision course. Most burnt up in the atmopshere, however there was a constant threat of something big coming through. The end came unexpectedly. A massive asteroid has collided with Eden completly wiping off and resetting its life course. With most of its resources destroyed TRD escaped burning Eden and sought help from Federacia. They were allowed to land on Yanna, however from then on former TRD became a new cast of people that were denied most basic human rights and were exploited as cheap labor for Federacia. Metas have branded them with a new name - Wretched.

Wrethed were significantly shorter than an average human due to their stay on Eden where gravity caused their limbs and torsos to shrink and become dwarf like. After escaping to Yanna, they have also started experiencing side effects from its poisonous gases, however unable to afford cybernetic organ replacements due to their new social status they were left to rot. Their bodies and minds were rapidly deteriorating and day by day wretched were losing themselves and comitting horrendous acts worthy of their new names. After a few generations their fate seemed hopeless as their population was rapidly decreasing and life conditions not improving. All seemed lost when the unexplainable happened. Wretched seemed to have overcome death itself and become something else. They learned to harvest and reuse body parts of the dead replacing their own and as a result turning into grotesque malformations. They have proclaimed themselves the Grafted and the new body parts were named scions.

Meta

Features

• +2 int/ +1 to any stat of your choice based on your preferred cybernetic enhancements
• Proficiency in Arcane and perception (Meta Sense)
• Live up to 150 years old
• 6 to 7ft tall on average
• 30ft walking speed
• Dark vision to 60ft (Cybernetic Eyes)

Meta Tech. At level 1 you are able to cast a Cyber Shield (Shield Spell) on yourself as a reaction once per day without using your spell slots. At level 3 you are able to cast an Active Camouflage (Mirror Image) on yourself once per day without using your spell slots. At level 5 you are able to cast Meta Shield (Counterspell) as a reaction once per day without using your spell slots. You can only cast it as a third level spell. Your Intelligence modifier is your spell casting ability.

The Grafted (Wretched)

Features

• +2 and +1 to any ability scores or +1 to three different ability scores based on your attached scions
• Live up to 60 years old
• 4 to 5ft tall on average
• Walking speed 25ft/ climbing or swimming speed

Deathless Nature. You have escaped death, a fact represented by the following benefits:

1. You have advantage on saving throws against disease and being poisoned, and you have resistance to poison damage.
2. You have advantage on death saving throws.
3. You don’t need to breathe.
4. You don’t need to sleep, and magic can’t put you to sleep. You can finish a long rest in 4 hours if you spend those hours in an inactive, motionless state, during which you retain consciousness.

Knowledge from a Past Life. You temporarily remember glimpses of the past life from the body parts attached to you. Your scions retain their genetic skills. When you make an ability check that uses a skill, you can roll a d6 immediately after seeing the number on the d20 and add the number on the d6 to the check. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
