Selya'neen's Wheel

The in skies above the far east of Belor Daeg sits a star on the horizon from Erevernal to Aftsummer. The star upon rising for the first time in Erevernal floats on the horizon briefly before sinking back down. Even though it is not in the sky long, it shines bright just as the sun sets. As time marches on, the star climbs further and stays longer. By the time Aftvernal ends the star shines a several candles less than the moon, but still brighter than any other sky. By the end of Aftsummer it sinks just below the horizon one last time.   What makes this star so important and interesting to the people In eastern Belor Daeg is that the star has a "dark space" in it. The spaces provide what appears to be spokes if viewed through a spyglass, hence how it received its name. These spokes are a dozen in number and constant every evening from its rise to its setting.   The other interesting feature is the star appears to spin like a wheel on a wagon as it lumbers through the warm skies. When viewed, the spokes do not perceptibly move, however when the astronomers and naturalists in Kattumalu, Palace of Learning in northeastern Belor Daeg recorded the spokes they found every week they did move half a degree. Illustrations show that in a decade the wheel makes one full rotation. The rotation is celebrated in Kattumalu along with many other scientific accomplishments and discoveries.   Named after an old human deity Selya'neen, the star hold significant religious virtues and holidays. The elves in Belor Daeg insist Selya'neen is merely a misinterpretation of Sehanine. Because of this, its lesser known name is Sehanine's Wheel. Elves have flocked to Kattumalu in order to write astronomy according to elves specifically to correct this mistake, but their labor bore fruitless. Many naturalists already considered the star named Selya'neen's Wheel and no amount of pressure would change it. Some still stubbornly refer to it as Sehanine's Wheel, though that name is technically incorrect.
