Half-orc Homebrew

In Enor Daeg, every orc and their kin love a good liquor. Beer or grog is usually what suffices though hard stuff is perfection. A good many caravans are chosen for their suspected supply of alcohol. The brewer's heart beats wildly inside almost every orc. Many try, and fail to make anything more than meager grog or low-quality ale. This is different for the half-orc.   There is a weird quirk inside the half-orcs to brew. Many become barkeeps, the mixing and combining of different ingredients gives them a fulfillment unlike any other. For some still that fulfillment is short-lived. These half-orcs turn then to that time-standard tradition of brewing.   The process is slow and deliberate, with also dashes of chaotic "let's see what happens" in combining ingredients to make the perfect liquor. Beer, ale, grog is all too easy for these few. They require something more complex. They look for books on brewing liquor and feverishly study them. They accrue their ingredients like seasoned alchemists, and apply them like practicing wizards. Their patience tumbles, but once they push through, the results are stupendous.   The liquor is usually clear and smells of a pungent, alchemical fire. Strong is an understatement when describing the taste. It is a cold burn of lemon, jasmine, juniper, or mint that hits you like a bullette. If you aren't careful (or not a dwarf) you can find yourself affected very quickly.   The purpose, though, isn't to knock out any drinker. When making their brew the brewer feels accomplished and accepted. It's said that an old forgotten orc god of revelry bestows upon them a mark. The half-orc awakens with a sense of finding their original tribe with their brew. They may ignore this, but it is deep within. Once they set out and find their tribe they are inspected. The leader examines the mark and with a shaman proclaims they are "one of us" and a celebration commences. This is the only known way for an outsider to be accepted by the orcs and other half-orc communities on the frontier and wilderness.   After the revelries they are free to leave or stay, though the tribe will always make a case for them to "return to their roots." Some accept, many don't. They part ways with gifts for their new sibling of war and peace. Seeds from stockpiles and old recipes on withering vellum comprise usual gifts. The half-orc, in turn, leaves their brew for them to enjoy. They are welcome back any time.
