Half-orc

Raised Human

The children of orc and human encounters are typically raised in human society. Though some children come from nefarious means and violent raids, some also come about through wholesome, amorous entwines. These children are raised as humans in human society and generally well-adjusted, their lives being comparable to a humans, with some exceptions.

Behavior

Half-orcs enjoy physical activity. They have a need to run fast, feel the sharp wind in their eyes and sting their lungs. Mothers note their half-orc children seem to run circles around the other children and seem to have boundless energy. They tend to be rambunctious and difficult to be heed a warning or call home. They proudly show new scars or scratches and have the entire story planned out about how it occurred, boasting to their friends and family how tough they are.   Some turn out to be bullies, terrorizing smaller children for resources, but just as many become vigilantes against said bullies.

Gruumsh

Gruumsh is an Evil deities who once proclaimed, "One eye Gruumsh puts on all those, true; every orc, their children, and their children, too." This spiritual tie to Gruumsh lasts three generations, so a second-generation, a half-orc, is under his influence, albeit limited.

First Influences

A half-orc upon reaching puberty begins to hear the temptations of Gruumsh. These temptations come in the form of thoughts that come from time to time. When contacting friends about such weird thoughts, none profess to such ideas. This can be scary and isolating for the half-orc, which is Gruumsh's plan. The next steps, according to Gruumsh, are further isolation, departure, and, finally, welcoming into a horde where they become Reclaimed.

The Tenuous Tie

Many half-orc teenagers or young adults choose go on sojourns to severe the ties to a god they never worshiped. Those who have undergone this journey speak of a great weight or darkness being lifted. The journey is called The Dark Tread due to its harrowing nature. The children of a Born-again orc or half-orc are free from the curse of Gruumsh.

Naming Traditions

Half-orcs typically have human names, being mostly born unto female mothers, though this is certainly not always the case. Some half-orcs may receive a human name but chose a more orc name in line with ancestors.   Use human names but another list is below.
