Cult of Jour Organization in Uto Daeg | World Anvil

Cult of Jour

The cult for Jour rose with him. The cultists, ranging from fanatic to madness, worshipped him devoutly. In his name this death cult rode into villages and towns, sacking and burning, taking hostage every living being. The cultists were extremely organized, only attacking under direct orders even when attacked. Their hierarchy made it difficult to cull them, however, since killing the supposed leader would simply activate the next in the chain of command.   Raising the local dead from graves was a popular tactic, turning the townsfolk's dead against them. The cultists delighted in seeing a son be struck down by his father and hold the rotted corpse in his murderous hands. They were surprised by the simple fear incurred by an undead mother slaying its screaming, confused children. Indeed, town after town would surrender to Jour before much conflict. The inhabitants then burned the bodies, but the psychological torment from this simply was too much.   The cultists bloodfrenzy knew no bounds. They would often feast upon the living blood of the conquered, draining them and drinking them in. These bloodless husks were then used in their rituals to bring forth horrible abominations. These abominations were used in sieges and huge bruisers in Jour's army. The weight of them left impressions in the ground, their stench radiating for miles out, warning the townspeople too late of destruction to come.

Structure

At the head was Jour. He made all decisions and his word was absolute and final. Next came his second, Woundmaker, his Archgeneral. After him came the High Generals Boltmehazrae, Alfumatra, and Hummindolz. After these came the Generals, the Colonels, the Captains, the Sergeants, and the Initiates.

Culture

Wanton chaos and disease and death were firmly in the mindset of the followers of Jour. He was a veritable god and so granted boons and banes as he saw fit. All worshipped Jour and were instructed to think of him all day and night, meditating on his unholy abominations and evil deeds.

Disbandment

After the death of Jour, the cult fell apart, though several higher ranking officers were never caught, such as Woundmaker, Boltmehazrae, and Alfumatra.
