The Great Colony

Structure

The Queen of the Great Colony controls the Hive Mind, and gives orders directly to the Colonial Ladies, who are lesser versions of the Queen herself, and control roughly even numbers of drones.

Public Agenda

They seek to destroy The Hive, and ensure Great Colony freedom from the evil Hive

Assets

The city of St. Louis, and several smaller colonies, including ones in Far Consin, Upper Vicksburg, and one just north of the Orleans Bay.

History

The Great Colony began when a magical rift intersected with an experimental colony of Matabele ants in St. Louis, combining the population of the city with the ant colony, and creating a species of ant-like humanoids.   They began spreading, establishing colonies in widening circles around St. Louis, and eventually met The Hive, who they have been at war with since that very day.

Demography and Population

The population of The Great Colony is unknown   When asked, drones invariably answer "I cannot give the placement or disposition of any troops."

Territories

The Great Colony controls St. Louis and the surrounding lands, as well as a few small areas surrounding their other colonies.

Military

All members of The Great Colony are technically soldiers in The Queen's service, and as such the number of soldiers is only limited by how fast eggs can be laid. However, they generally keep most of their population in non-combat positions, and do not produce enough weapons for their entire population.   Their mercenary squads are greatly desired by those who know of them for their instant communication and extreme cohesion, as well as due to a reputation for following any orders given to them that they can even somewhat reasonably accomplish.

Technological Level

Due to their Hive Mind, the Great Colony has a strange relationship with technology. They don't usually develop anything new of their own, but will reproduce almost anything brought to them relatively quickly for constructing everything by hand, but rarely see anything other than objects that might give them an advantage over The Hive.

Foreign Relations

Other than the never ending war with The Hive, the Great Colony is generally non-hostile. While they do continue to establish smaller colonies, they generally try to avoid settling where other species are common.

Agriculture & Industry

The Great Colony engages in some form of fungal agriculture in the tunnels under St. Louis, but it is not widely understood.   The primary industry of the Great Colony is constructing further residences for their population, as well as producing their unique and extremely recognizable rifles.

Trade & Transport

They do not have any widespread trade, other than occasionally trading rifles or amber for spare Motorist vehicles. They do occasionally supply squads of "mercenaries" in exchange for technology that they think may be useful.

Education

Education is done through Colonial Ladies using the Hive Mind to imprint first their codex of law, then the history of their people, then the necessary skills for their specialty. As such, the knowledge of individual drones is often extremely limited.
