Plane of Creation
Endless life force, raw inspiration and infinite politics.
The Plane of Creation is one of six infinite planes of archetypal energy that act as the source of power and material for all worlds in the universe. It is often known as the Feywild, although that name technically refers to the inhabitable region that was left behind as energy was pulled from the plane to create Urvén. It is a land of fey creatures, bountiful wildlife, dizzying politics and inconsistant distances. It is also known for having an unpredictable passage of time, particularly for travelers from other planes.
Governance
A countless number of fey courts vie for favour and power within the Feywild. The most influential has nominal authority over the whole plane, though in practicality, many regions remain independant. A court is usually described as either seelie or unseelie, depending on their general alignment (though other factors may be involved). Presently, and for most of the existance of the Feywild, an alliance between the four seelie "seasonal" courts trade the governance of the realm between them. To an outside observer, it can seem unpredictable for how long each of these courts remain in power.
Courts range in size from being just a few individuals to being roughly equivalent to a country and their influence is not often proportional to the number of members. Smaller courts, often known as "bands", will often group together to share their standing. One such example is the Court of the Hunt, which is made up of many smaller bands - which may even prey upon each other.
Standing may be gained in a multitude of ways but the most important is in acting appropriate to your being. A hag inflicting misery, a dryad protecting an old tree or a satyr causing debauchery will increase their standing, regardless of the ethics of their actions. This standing is traded as though an unwritten currency, lost due to trickery or invested into endeavours for a potential return.
Geography
The Feywild is roughly the shape of a shallow bowl, The Eldest Tree in the direct centre and the tangled borders with the rest of the Plane of Creation at the outside. Within the boundary are a mix of geographic features, including mountain ranges, rivers and a small sea.
Its terrain is interrupted - sometimes quite haphazardly - by fey domains, the regions influenced by archfey. These regions intersect with the rest of the Feywild and are often inconsistent geometrically, appearing the wrong size from the outside. These vary in wildly; the smallest fey domain may encompass a single tree stump while others may appear to stretch on indefinitely.
Example Fey Domains
- Ceaseless Slough
The interminable, depressing swamp of the Court of Misery, ruled over by The Baba, hag above all hags. - The Hedge
A large, decorative hedgemaze that some fey use as a holiday destination. Few mortals know what lies within and there are confusing links to the Plane of Maze. - Languid Lake
A small lake filled with amphibians, ruled by The Toad Prince.
Fauna & Flora
The Feywild bursts with energy, its natural life being more vibrant and energetic than the material plane. Natural wildlife is just a little bigger, more lively and more intelligent than their natural counterparts. Plants grow larger, straining outwards as though conscious and may move, particularly when not being watched.
Most famously, the plane is home to the fey - a catch-all term for the myriad lifeforms made out of raw natural energy, who often epitomise different aspects of creation.
