PK Ceremony

Ugh, Luckily I don't have to wear these clothes all the time.
— A Mediator receiving the title of Peacekeeper to their friend.
This ceremony confers the honor of the Peacekeeper title to a Mediator. This doesn’t happen that often as there still aren’t that many mediators.

History

At first when the title was instated, in 1958, this title was granted to mediators without any special ceremonies. However, when it was decided that the title retroactively had to be given to Laila, the first mediator, they couldn’t just hand it over to her. She was also a legend in the supernatural world so it had to be done with all the bells and whistles.   In 1960 Laila was granted her title and after her, the ceremony kept up. Just with a little fewer whistles. Laila's Peacekeeper pin and 18k gold chain is displayed in the Mediator's HQ.

EXECUTION

The ceremony is held in the Mediator's HQ, in the dining hall of their restaurant. All mediators present are wearing their Mediator uniforms. Which is a uniform that they rarely wear. When they work in the restaurant they use their restaurant uniforms and when they work as mediators they usually wear private clothes. The other guests invited to the ceremony, children and spouses of the mediators, wear their Sunday finest.   The person receiving the title stands on a small stage together with the director of the section where the title-receiver works. The director holds a small speech, the title receiver holds a small thank you speech, and the director hands a peacekeeper pin and an 18k golden chain over to the title receiver. The other people there clap and then a band takes over the small stage. Everyone eats a fancy dinner together with live music and after the dinner there's dancing and drinks.
