Time's Lighthouse
"Go to the shore and look to your left. You'll find it there."When asked how to find Time's Lighthouse
Purpose / Function
The original purpose of the lighthouse was to warn people away from the dangerous rocks that made the water rough. After years of doing this for years, there was one day, March 26th 1826, that the lighthouse didn't warm anyone away, but welcomed them instead.
For the entire day and night, sounds and lights were heard from the lighthouse. The family that was keeping it at the time were pushed out and left to pound on the locked door. When their youngest went into town to get help, she brought the community back to hear unhuman sounds and see the lights become colors they couldn't be (that type of equipment wasn't available at that time period, nor was it inside the lighthouse).
Alterations
The only alteration done to the lighthouse was when it was taken over for a day by the sounds and colors that were seen.
After that, it was taken over by time and reclaimed by the sands and earth near it. There are types of ivy growing up the walls, and part of the reason people are so keen to see if they can unlock and walk around the place is that they can see animals being allowed in (however, shapeshifters haven't been allowed in when they're in their animal forms).
Architecture
Stone was used in the making of this lighthouse, and the outer part was painted white. There are railings all the way up at the top (made out of metal), while the inside has railings and stairs made from wood. The roof was painted black.
History
The history of the lighthouse is pretty similar to those all over the land. It was built, it saved people from the rough waters and treacherous rocks and then it behaved in a way that was 100% new to everyone around it. After it did that, the lighthouse was never able to be opened again. There was a fire at the top of it, but the remainder of the structure is still there.
Because it could never be opened again, the lighthouse was abandoned and another one was put up a little farther down the shoreline. From the records of that time, the job was given to the original keep of the lighthouse family and they very quickly turned it down and left the area.
Tourism
This place doubles as a type of "Ellis Island" tourist place for being of magical ethnicity (the sounds and colors calling out were the universal equivalents of a magical "all are welcome here" signal) and as an abandoned area for others to see if they can make their way inside. So far, the door has remained locked to all that have tried, but as many tourism pamphlets point out, what is locked can also be unlocked as long as the correct key is found.
Since this area is close to the city, most tourists visit the lighthouse for about an hour or two, and then go to someplace else they want to see. There is a reenactment of the sounds and colors every year on March 26th, and the crowds to see the area are much thicker then.
