Kuren (Kure (male) Kurei (Female))

The kuren live in the desert kingdom of K'luore, which lies to the east of the Bandit Empire. It consists of small and large desert plates (islands), but was once a whole continent, until one day, for unknown reasons, it fragmented.   The Kuren have a human-like appearance, but their heads are spider-like and contain 30-50 eyes. Their skin is dark and scaly, but not like lizards.   Because of their many eyes, they can see for miles, and immediately recognize any object in their environment, which makes them very good sneakers and thieves. (they can even see in the dark) It is not uncommon to find at least one Kuren in a gang of thieves or bandits, from the previous listed abilities they possess.   Nature is not very friendly in the desert realm. During the day, the temperature can reach 60 degrees. But at night it is quite mild with a maximum of 20 degrees. Plants that can be found here are heat resistant and therefore very useful for alchemy, for example for a potion of fire resistance.   Food is available mainly through meat, which comes from worms that live deep in the sand. Beyond that, there are a handful of plant species that bear fruit and are edible. But at least three times as many that kill you.   Nowhere in the Unterwelt is more dangerous than here. The worms in the soil feed on the substances in the sand, but it can happen that they accidentally take a biped as food, and then it is more than unpleasant.   The language of the kuren consists mostly of clicking sounds, which they produce with their teeth and tongue. However, kuren can also learn the language of humans and dwarves very easily. At least 60 percent of the population speaks Banditvish and more than 40 percent Dwarvish.   The Kuren people are highly intelligent. In their capital there are many libraries filled with knowledge of the past. Some of them are written in the dwarven language, which shows the connection between these two peoples in the past. In contrast to today. From the dwarves, the kuren have also adopted a lot of technology, for example, the cooling systems, defense systems, and gate systems. This came about because the Kuren and the War'fss were allies in the five era long war (until they betrayed their allies and sided with the bandits) and thus shared their knowledge.   Kuren are the only race that lived in Unterwelt before the dwarves (war'fss) and the bandits (humans). (respectively, the only one that survived, see Strange Fortress Ruins) so it is assumed that they are about more than 20,000 years already in Unterwelt.   It is known that the Kuren hold the knowledge of the beginning of the first era in their hands, and only they can share it. What will probably not happen, because the kuren the last 13,000 years like a tomb silent. It is possible that the dwarves possess a certain part of this mysterious past, but they seem to have locked it away and swallowed the key to it.   The kuren have invented their own kind of power to drive their mechanics. The so-called "glass technology" in which several glass lenses refract the light a hundred times to produce a highly energetic beam at the end, which can drive mechanics. However, this is only possible when the sun is shining (only during the day).

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Kuren have a human-like body, except that they have three hearts and a spider-like head with 30-50 eyes.

Genetics and Reproduction

The reproduction of the kuren is largely unknown, as they do not like to be observed during such actions.

Growth Rate & Stages

The kuren children go through several transformations until their 20th year, in each of which 5-8 new eyes grow on the head of the youngster. After this time, not much changes until they reach their 70th year. Then the attention and the eyes begin to get worse. This is due to the high stress on the eyes over the years.

Ecology and Habitats

The kuren live in large clans of 45-2000 members. They do not wander much, and then only when they have to. Because of the heat during the day, most of the work is done early in the morning or in the evening. The individual families in the clans live in large leather tents made from the skin of desert worms. The clan leader also lives in a tent, but with a defense system. All the others have cooling systems to make life more comfortable. There are also a handful of tribes that have their own library.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The kuren feed on the meat of desert worms, and a few fruits. The special thing is that the kuren can go for months without vitamins and only with meat. Water is not rare, since most of the rivers and lakes contain fresh water of drinkable quality.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Due to the high number of eyes, the kuren can perceive every little detail of their surroundings and it is therefore not possible to surprise them. their hearing is good and their hands rough.

Civilization and Culture

Common Myths and Legends

It is said that in the capital "Kuren" there is a spring whose water gives immortality.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

The kuren are a reclusive people. Normally they are very welcoming, but they do not like it at all when strangers interfere in their affairs. There are trade relations with the bandit empire, but that was all the connection. There are no relations with the dwarves since the five era long war. This is because the Kuren betrayed the War'fss by secretly allying themselves with the bandits, although they were actually fighting with the dwarves.
