"Drake" Yin Long

-Note: Asian names tend to have the last name before the first name, so Yin is his first name while Long is his family name.-   Name: Long Yin   Alias: Drake   DoB: January 16th, 1999   Age: 231 (appears 60 due to cryogenic stasis)   Long Yin is an American of ethnic Chinese ancestry. He is descended from some of the workers who came to the Americas in the 1800s to re-establish themselves in the new world. His immigrant ancestors helped to build the US and Canadian transcontinental railroads and mostly served as migrant workers before one of his ancestors enlisted in the US Navy during the First World War. This began a long and proud tradition of military service in the Long family with each generation producing at least one enlistee and several generations having every sibling enlist in the United States armed forces.   Long “Drake” Yin himself attended Annapolis Naval Academy distinguishing himself as an accomplished leader among his class of cadets. He was well-liked by his peers and the combination of his sheer charisma, and leadership skill seemed to counterbalance any prejudices he encountered during his tenure even amongst the rise of American Neofascism during and following the Muller Presidency. Following his graduation, Long was promoted to the rank of Ensign and assigned to the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Spruance as a pilot for her onboard helicopters although he was qualified to pilot the VTOL F35 fighter as well. He served on the ship through for several months before the Skyfall Incident shook the world. During the war against the aliens, he saw combat both on the American Great lakes and in the Mid Atlantic Theatre towards the end of the war.   Shortly after the war, Long developed leukemia. A friend of his in the Cryonics Foundation offered him space on one of the Capsule Program’s planned freezer vaults. Exhausting more conventional methods of therapy Long agreed to be frozen until medical technology could advance enough to save his life. Like most of the people frozen by the Cryonics Foundation, his data was lost after WannaWeep malware attacks corrupted their servers, and the foundation subsequently went bankrupt selling off assets to various competitors.   Cryonics Foundation Vault 16 was investigated during an archeological dig of South Florida in 2198 and was found to contain the frozen bodies of fifty people. While terminally ill by 21st century standards, advances in medicine allowed for twenty-seven to be revived while the remaining bodies’ life support units failed prior to salvage.   Long was revived and following a year and a half of rehabilitation and accelerated learning, was able to fully reintegrate into late 22nd-century society. Long once again opted to enlist in the armed forces, first in the United North American Surface Navy as a pilot and later, transferred to the United Republics of Orion Space Fleet Air Arm with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Over the course of the next two decades, he served with distinction in campaigns against pirates before attaining the rank of Rear Admiral. Long’s experience in actual warfare, even though it was a hundred years prior, left him with a level of combat and wartime expertise unparalleled by his contemporaries. This is especially true since there hadn’t been a war on Earth since the 2060s.   After the end of the Corsair War, Long retired to begin a career teaching at the prestigious Collins University at Tranquility Base. He specializes in political science and early 21st Century History. His status as a war hero of both the 21st and 23rd centuries has gained him fame and a strong base of admirers from both military and civilian circles.  He was offered an honorary Doctorate in 21st Century History from Yale, but declined instead choosing to enroll in the program saying, “I’d rather achieve through my own works than by the circumstances of my birth.” His dissertation offered unique insights into just how much the Skyfall War shaped human society over the following centuries.   While military pay does not make a man wealthy, his status as alive in critical condition meant that all his finances continued to be managed by successor banks. His net worth isn’t public knowledge but speculated to between one-hundred-fifty and two-hundred-fifty billion Orion credits which would place him in the top one percent tax bracket.
