Transportation
There are two main forms of transportation in United Britannia and Hibernia. Because of the ease of transportation, automobiles do not exist in UBH.
Portals are a form of Transportation Magic and are the quickest way to travel. Portals are created by a spell, and most witches can travel anywhere within United Britannia and Hibernia. However, Portals are restricted to just inside UBH as a gesture of goodwill towards other countries. Most public buildings have at least one Portal area available to Portal in and out of. Luckily, the spell will not work if someone else is currently inhabiting that space. Bigger locations, like the Great Library, have ten Portal areas available.
HERMES is a sort of train system located in UBH. Because of magic, it floats above the ground in prescribed paths (although it can go off the path as well). HERMES is ideal for families since children are prohibited from using Portals, even with parental supervision. Additionally, HERMES can also travel over water, so there are several HERMES that travels to other continents. Once arriving in another place, many countries have their own version of HERMES that they can travel in.
