Family manors

Family manors are the most common type of housing in the United Britannia and Hibernia. Family manors (mansions, villas, estates, etc.) proliferate the countries of the UBH and are the predominant type of housing.   Although some family manors are relatively young, most of the wealthiest of the UBH have houses that are centuries old; in fact, the most famous of manors are over a thousand years old.

Exterior

The exterior of most manor houses are stone or brick; they are meant to be sturdy and last several hundreds of years. The yards of family manors are just as important as the inside; almost all witches have a large in the UBH have a large yard. Yards are well-kept and manicured. Many manors have courtyards either inside or directly adjacent to the house. Landscaping of yards include flowers, fruit trees, and other decorations.

Interior

The interior of the manor is important as well; many families have family heirlooms, including paintings, statues, and tapestries, that are several hundred years old.

Inheritance

Manor houses are automatically given to the oldest child and their family after the deaths of the parents. However, wills can be written to override this (either because of anger or exchange of other properties). If the owners die without a will, the manor will automatically go to the eldest child and their family.

Addresses

Many manor houses do not have an address; instead, they are simply addressed by the name of their property. When someone in the UBH mentions a particular property, everyone is expected to know where it is.

There are many famous manors in the UBH, including the Cross Manor, the Ryan Estate, Fox Hall, Sharpe Castle, and Keyes Manor.
