Calendar and Holidays

In United Britannia and Hibernia there is an official Council sanctioned calendar. (Although religious holidays exist, they are not official; however, many employers/schools will allow religious adherents to miss work or school to celebrate their holidays). The official calendar is what dictates official holidays (and thus, mandatory days off).

Calendar

The calendar of United Britannia and Hibernia is identical to the calendar that humans use. Previously, the witches of United Britannia and Hibernia followed the old Roman calendar, but soon found that it was inconvenient to have a different calendar than humans. (This is because academic witches are not allowed to visit the human world at certain times of the year, like holidays, to limit human contact at all costs.)

Holidays

Holidays are taken very seriously in United Britannia and Hibernia. There are 9 main holidays that all witches celebrate, regardless of the religion they follow. Besides Yuletide and Parentalia, all witches (except emergency workers) celebrate with a day off of work or school.
