After the fall of the dragons nearly 400 years ago, the human general called Titus Maximus claimed the title of Emperor of Mankind, swearing that humans would never again be oppressed by any other race. As such, the empire is has taken massive steps in putting down all other races in their territory, including step taxes, religious suppression, and property theft. And with lose of the dragons, the secrets of Draconic magic went as well. A form of magic from which all modern arcane traditions stem, Draconic Magics include spells and rituals that far exceed the power of those used by mortal mages. After the Draconic Empire was defeated, the dragons took steps to ensure that the secrets of their magic would never be discovered by any other race. Now, over 300 years later, the Imperium of Mankind is surrounded by rivals and struggling to hold the nation together. Its armies, though numerous, are spread thin and under funded. More and more trade is controled by rich nobles who are easily persuaded by foreign coin. The next few years will decide the fate of the empire, mankind, and perhaps Unhala herself...
