Escape
The light is too far away, but you remember that you don't really need it. You have your phone with you.
It takes you a long time to find the hidden pocket, but your eyes are gradually adjusting to the poor light provided by the moon and stars. Once you manage to take your smartphone and activate the flashlight, it's a matter of minutes to go back to the illuminated streets.
Soon you are back at the abandoned house, and go to bed disappointed about Halloween. You'll never know the dangers you have escaped in this perfectly calm, boring town.
