Qrelom, The Ancient Demon of the Farsands

This is a myth with half-truths, however is a classic case of imagination run wild all the same. People believe that an ancient demon lives in the farsands, and is kept imprisoned by the two Gods that orbit the world. They believe that the Gods are only ever seen one at a time, because one comes to watch us while the other goes to watch the demon. The terrible screams that can be heard from the outskirts of known erg belong to the demon, and are the eternal bellows it emits with the pain of its punishment.   In reality, a gigantic ancient creature DOES exist in the farsands, on the exact opposite side of the planet. But it's no demon, merely a gigantic, harmless creature surviving like any other. The two suns above are no Gods, simply suns. And the cries you can hear don't belong to it, since it's so far away that sound simply doesn't carry that far. No, the cries belong to {a far more terrifying beast}.

Summary

According to legend, there once was an ancient and powerful demon on Unos named Qrelom. The world was eternally dark in this time, and the few creatures that would come into being were food for the demon. One day, a very strange creature appeared to Qrelom. It had two arms, one on each side of its body. Two legs coming from the bottom. And a head at the top. It stood upright, and seemed to carry itself more confidently than the monster's other morsels. The new thing approached Qrelom, and spoke: (as translated from Old Tongue)
"O great Demon, I wish you would cease eating everything you meet. My friends wish to exist."
The demon merely laughed at the tiny being, and replied,
"And why, little snack, would I stop eating you? There is no harm to me in my eating, for I wish to exist as well."
The brave thing stayed his ground, steadily, and said:
"It is your right to exist, of course. However, If you do not stop, I will find those that can make you stop."
Qrelom was going to simply grab the little thing and munch it up, but was too busy laughing while it walked away. The little creature, which would eventually come to be known as a human, traveled the great darkness, looking for something (or someone) to aid him in making Qrelom stop eating so much. He traveled for so long that he, himself, needed food, and he stopped when he found a delicious-looking cactus plant, and reached for it. However, he heard a voice come from nearby, but could not see what it belonged to.
"Who are you, and what are you doing with my cactus plant?!"
  Startled, the human shakenly responded:
"I... I apologize! I am very hungry, and it looks so very delicious..."
  The voice sighed, and said,
"Harm was not done. However, I must eat, as well."
The human thought for a moment, and replied,
"Why do we not share the cactus? It is quite large, and could probably feed the both of us!"
  The voice laughed.
"I appreciate your generosity, as well as understand your desires to look after yourself. Those are very good qualities in an intelligent creature. May I ask what you are doing, so far from where you came from?"

"I am searching for someone that can stop a Demon from eating every living thing it meets."
The voice became outraged, and another voice joined it.
"A Demon is eating living creatures?!?" "This cannot be allowed to continue!!!" "As thanks for telling us of this, you may have the entire cactus, little creature."
The human was amazed, and took the thing with little hesitation.
"Thank you, kind voices!!"
And with that, everything around the human was suddenly no longer dark. He could see everything around him, the cactus field that surrounded him, the great expanse of land before him, and now, one of the things that was speaking to him, very high up in the sky. Bright as bright can be.   Meanwhile, the two voices, which turned out to be very powerful Gods, went and found Qrelom. They told him once to stop eating living creatures, and he laughed and ate a creature. They told him again, and he responded the same way. Finally, he was told a third time, and Qrelom tried to eat one of the Gods. However, this God was so powerful, that even looking at it made Qrelom unable to move. The two gods realized this, and decided that the only way to make sure that Qrelom didn't eat other beings again, was to always keep an eye on him. To this day, this is why there are two suns constantly circling around Unos. They are taking turns watching Qrelom, making sure he never moves again.

Historical Basis

The story behind Qrelom is merely the product of a creative mind, spinning together unrelated facts into a work of fantastical fiction.
