Eskiat

Eskiat is a settlement made up of three small islands, connected by an impressive and complex series of suspended walkways and buildings. It is known as the "art capital" of the {Union}, and is where the {creative revolution} sparked in the {Properous Era}. Much like real-world Paris, this is a city of dreams, where one goes to become a poet, a chef, or otherwise an artist.

Demographics

Humans and agamians live together here, however the most artistically-inclined tend to be red-skinned agamians. Humans can be seen most commonly in the more stable and secure parts of the city, out of a paranoia of heights. Agamians are fine with heights, and freely and fearlessly occupy the upper walks of the city.

Government

A democratic republic, with a specific mayor voted in via regular election. Falls under the rules and regulations of the Union.

Defences

The city is extremely vulnerable, so a well-trained and well-prepared defense corps is necessary for its continued thrivance. There are two flight pads and a military truck depot on the northern island, with regular patrols at the base of all three islands and an internal guard squad. During the Hate Era, the patrols were tripled. A special attack battallion was formed during this time, and succeeded on numerous missions, but was never deployed again after the Union took power.

Industry & Trade

Eskiat is known the world over as the "art capital" of the erg. Most famously, the city itself serves as a breathtaking piece of fine art, as its very existence is challenging on much the same level. However, because of this, traditional industry isn't very strong here. Instead, the city's main export is media and cuisine. Poets often come from this city, and become big stars, selling their works across the world and bringing their trade to the island.

Infrastructure

The city is known for its bizarre structure, being entirely suspended from key points on small islands above the hot sand below. (Yes, there have been accidents, but every accident makes the city safer.) Everything a city needs to thrive is hung from incredibly sturdy bridgework, including "outdoor" recreation such as parks and gardens.

History

Eskiat was settled initially during the Second Era, but at the time, was three different settlements. The construction of the bridges between those settlements didn't begin until just before the Integration Era, and would finish about halfway through it (with agamain assistance). Those bridges got built higher and more intricately over time, and during the Prosperous Era, the city proper was built.   Also during the Prosperous Era was the origins of {industrial paint} becoming a widespread concept, a phenominon that began in Eskiat. Humans and agamians started painting the buildings they had made and creating artistically pleasing places to live, which sparked a {revolution} and forever popularized the concept of personal artistic expression.

Architecture

Originally built with crude metal, the more well-known construction of the city began during the Prosperous Era, and many materials were used to create the various buildings that hang from the walkways. Cactal wood painted in pearlescent paints, painted frondweave walls and doors, name it and it's been used in a unique and interesting way to make a building in Eskiat.

Geography

The city is built upon three islands, which were connected by basic bridges when their respective support beams were built up high enough. These islands are a very unique find, as being this close together yet still separated by hotsand is extremely atypical.
