Orc Religion of First Dawn Lake
Chrailis Orcs and First Dawn Lake Orcs
These orcs are not the typical orcs found around the rest of the world. Most of these orcs have become seafaring and as such are no longer light sensitive.
Those near Chrailis and under the sway of Si’Nassapherion tend to be more secular than religious similar to the peoples of Chrailis. This doesn’t mean that the villages and tribes don’t have their holy orcs. What they do have is generally a mix of serving local spirits, Torya, and Josca. These are about the only orcs in all the world which serve Josca. Slinjetto has her orcs in these communities, however those owing allegiance to her tend to be more tied to the sea and keep their practices lowkey due to Si’Nassapherion’s strong dislike for the goddess. There is little animosity between the followers of Torya, Josca, and Slinjetto.
As Si’Nassapherion’s sway diminishes the further away from Chrailis going out on to First Dawn Lake, the influence of Josca quickly declines. As most on First Dawn Lake are seafaring, almost all of the orcs serve Slinjetto. The religion of Slinjetto becomes more prominent in mainline culture. While Slinjetto is a goddess of war, she is more the goddess of chaotic war, not war for the sake of dominion. As such, the strife between worshipers of Slinjetto and others is just happenstance of getting in each other’s way.
On the farthest reaches of First Dawn Lake away from Chrailis, worship of Ramian Fax and Letheria among the land-dwelling orcs has seen a strong increase over the last several generations. Unlike other areas, the seafaring orcs and the orcs further inland have been warring much more regularly.
The farthest southern side has also seen a new power rise to the front for the orcs there. Scholars believe this power to be another remnant elemental power from the lost world of Nakir. While little is known at this point, the followers of this power seem to worship the idea of going into a battle frenzy and fighting till they drop from exhaustion.
Of special mention should be the esoteric following of Kristor among the orcs. Few actually worship or are devoted directly to Kristor. Her goals are unknown to most and as a general rule, most consider her worshipers to be strange. While many call on her to try and sway their fate to the better, she is often considered best avoided. However, for those orcs that do follow her, they are often taciturn, grim, and yet peaceful. This doesn't mean they don't fight - they are some of the best martial artists of both unarmed and armed combat in the lands. While Kristor's colors are generally thought to be gray, the orcs that follow the 'Way of the Void' will wear plain white robes and are often seen meditating. It is rumored that actual monasteries exist of these mysterious yet powerful warrior-monks.
