Constrictor Bola of Capture
Gifted to Graykar from the tower, this bola enhances his speed characteristics. The bola appears as 3 silver balls about 2 inches in diameter held together with lengths of tightly twisted black leather.
The bola itself is a +5 weapon with regards to hit and the range is double. The heavy silver balls inflict 1d3 lethal damage each (3d9) rather than nonlethal damage. The bola is ineffective against creatures size Tiny and smaller or size Huge and bigger. It is also ineffective against any creature which has biology inapplicable with a bola use (slime, cubes, etc.) Due to the magic of the bola, it ignores all armor when figuring a to hit roll. On a successful hit, a standard trip check is made just as with a normal bola. However, this bola will also start constricting. A strength or escape check of DC25 is required to escape the bonds normally. Each round the victim is wrapped up, they will start take damage as follows.
- If their legs are tangled, they are affected as if entangled. Additionally, they will take 2d6 constriction damage per round after the first round.
If their midsection is tangled, they have -8 on any check using their arms (including spellcasting checks). They will take 4d6 damage per round after the 1st round.
If their neck is tangled, they will take an additional 4d6 damage the first round and then 8d6 damage per round after the 1st round.
- Kar Tay: Causes the unused bola to retract the ropes into balls, for easy storage.
Hia Tak: Causes the bola to extend the ropes, readying it for an immediate throw. This occurs as a free action.
Zen Dul: Causes the bola to completely release from a victim.
Tana Bas: Causes the bola to stop constricting while still maintaining a firm grip on the victim.
Jaran Bas: Causes the bola to resume constriction on the victim.
