The golden clasps (armbands for most size medium, bracers for most size large, and leg bands for most size medium) have a single ruby inset in their center.
When wearing one, anyone else within 100 feet who is also wearing one will share health. The effect is for all who enter the round wearing a band (taking it off mid-round will not alleviate the effects of having worn the band for the round). At the end of the round, the total health of those wearing the band is redistributed equally. However, if a participant is killed within the round, they are not included in the chain effect.
The effect is that the total hit points are divided by the number of wearers. If that number is greater than the amount of one of the participants, then those extra hit points are divided evenly among those left, and so on.
Initially, stories say there were 1000 of the bands made for an army of elite warriors. As soldiers fell and treasures fell into enemy hands, they fell out of use when combatants on both sides starting wearing the bands. A tactic of placing captured bands on prisoners and then injuring the prisoners to near death as the battle began dissuaded many from using the bands.
The bands only transfer hit points and will never transfer effects upon an individual.
