Megasalas
The Megasalas is often times associated with the Capacis Stilionis - The Living Carriage vehicle, a form of transportation that utilizes the salamander-like creature for mobility.
While beautiful and huge, the average lifespan for these megafaunas is only around 40 years with the longest period being about 56 years. It takes roughly 3-5 years for the Megasalas to reach full adulthood, with them reaching peak adolescence in 2-3 years. Because they can only be found in the southern hemisphere, and near large bodies of waters or along coasts, they have a layer of mucus slime covering their skin to protect from water-based pests and dry heat.
Megasalas are relatively low to the ground considering their length and weight, many being about three feet from the ground and averaging between 10-12 feet long. Weights vary greatly based on breed, bred reasons, travel distance, and native region; they easily weigh a couple of hundred pounds. Patterns and colors range from monochrome browns and yellows to greens and blues, spots to stripes, and static variations.
There are two main reasons why these animals are important and valued highly, though both are close in relation. The first reason is that of fast transportation, normally reserved for a single or duo unit, these people carry little with them and seek to travel long distances in a short period of time. They are often messengers, important figures, or bounty hunters. The second reason is that of transportation of goods, sturdier bred Megasalas used in conjunction with carriages and wagons to bring produce, meats, livestock, basic materials, and the like. These bulkier versions are meant to have the endurance to carry a heavy load over a large period of time, namely used by farmers, traders, and travelers.
