Gift of Flames

火焰的禮物 - Huǒyàn de lǐwù

The Gift and It's Many Forms

'火焰的禮物', or 'Gift of Flame' as the locals call it, is a rare magical type resource found only in Halo. Though it can be found in a handful of different forms, the most common is that of plants and fungi.
Like most unique magical substances in the world, the demand for the Húhuǒ and Yètǐ yújìn far exceeds the supply. The plants are delicate, tedious to harvest, and nearly impossible to produce in farms of any size. It is beyond me why people think they have the authority to come into our home, our lands, and carelessly take what they want without consequences.

FoxFire is a type of fungi that can only be spotted in the dark; and due to its glowing nature and ability to blend with it surroundings during the day, it can be extremely difficult to find.   You see, Foxfire has a special property, maybe because it is a fungus, maybe because of the vein deposits where it gets its nutrients from; but this property makes it a golden ingredient in a long list of spells and amulets/ But not just any kind of spells, we are talking about the kind that affects the mind, most famous are love potions and memory loss, included are mind-control and emotional negligence.

液體餘燼

Liquid Embers is the most popular plant type of this resource; it is a fruit-bearing flower, the petals of which are jet black. The fruits themselves are grey-white, with veins that resemble cracks of deep reds and oranges, this gives the plant a charred and ashy look. The fruit is often eaten raw, and consuming it this way gives the recipient temporary flame-based abilities, namely small sparks or flames and warmth dispersal. While exciting to the natural people with no skills in magic whatsoever, the abilities are more like specs of what an experienced and well-trained Flamma can do.   The fruit can also be cooked; the methods used are determined by the desired use of the fruit or outcome. Basting for splash potions, grilled for sparks, broiled for heat dispersal, brewed for fire breathing tonics, and the list goes on. Cooked Yètǐ yújìn can also be dried, ground, and other ways of preparation to be used for their 'healing' capabilities or ingredients in local dishes and, as previously stated, magical spells or potions.

Author's Notes

I've been so busy this summer, on top of doing small favors for family, juggling personal projects, and summer family events my sister came into town for a surprise visit so I'm been trying to spend as much time with her before I accompany my mother to drive her all the way back to her house and then back home for us. I plan on making concept sketches for each article but I've been so busy that I haven't even been able to post the articles I've written in my journal let alone sketches. Hopefully, in the next week, I'll get back in motion and play catch up.
