Limochromatite Material in Uclandia | World Anvil

Limochromatite

As seen in
Limochromatite is a gemstone whose flattened, sheet-like structure lends itself easily to window "glass". It can be found in chapel windows, as well as in the windows or decorative panels of the wealthy throughout Uclandia.   The stone can be shed into "sheets" if handled with gentle care. These sheets range in hue from blue-green to dark green. Being of a semi-transparent nature, sunlight will pass through the sheets of limochromatite. Depending on the environment around the mineral, the limochromatite can form into clusters that will not give off sheets. These clusters can have a pearly luster. These are often darker green.   _________________________________________________________________________________   The mineral has been studied in both forms and has been found to give off a gentle heat in cluster form.  Experiments have revealed that limochromatite reflects heat as well, creating a market for hearth screens and lantern globes made of this material. There are studies underway in Imperial City to determine if amber and limochromatite can be crushed and blended with a clear binder, and yet still retain the best qualities of both.   As one might expect, it is quite light, leading to the mistaken identification of "Green Amber". Limochromatite has been discovered in peat bogs, inside shells, and in very old graves, usually in cluster formations. The pieces found inside ancient graves or barrows are said to have magical properties, specifically allowing communication between the dead and the living.   The skull of Danteerius, a cursed but still powerful magical object, is reportedly covered in limochromatite. Very few still alive have reported ever seeing the skull, but they all claimed the skull was covered in short spiky bits of dark green mineral growths.
