Session 5
General Summary
The session began in the raiding camp, where our adventurers were devising a plan to infiltrate the mysteriously guarded cave. Leosin had heard that dragon eggs were being kept in the location, and that they were bound to hatch at any moment now. Before departing, he bestowed upon the group the mission to locate them and to dispose of them by any means necessary.
Briefly after, the monk departed in order to return to his order and tell them the news that the cult of the dragon was planning to bring forth a treasure horde for the queen of the dragons, Tiamat. As a final gift to the adventurers, he tasked his sister in arm Rhenga to stay with the group for now, in order to assist them in their task. The latter reluctantly agreed, having just been re-united with Leosin.
Moving forward to the task at hand, Firion and Laeta quickly ambushed a group of hunters heading out of the cave. Seizing the moment, the party rushed the cavern entrance, overwhelmed the small guard posted there and then entered the hatchery. Falling upon a barrack room filled with soldiers and cultists, they engaged in a fierce battle resulting in Frulam escaping through a secret tunnel by using a rope and many cultists being slain.
Upon investigating the room, they found some treasure, but also most importantly a note explaining that their plans having been laid to dust, the raiding army was now returning to Naerytar with whatever was left in order to regroup and plan their next move. An incident occurred when Rhenga was investigating the hole that Frulam had escaped from and Vayne decided to push her down into the hole, for reasons unknown to the group. The party followed suit down the hole but were quickly ambushed by Cyanwrath and quickly defeated, resulting in the death of Vayne while the rest of the party escaped back through the secret hole.
After some extra exploration, the surviving members of the party elected to retreat from the hatchery in order to catch their breath. Unbeknownst to them, deep inside the cavern, Oswell was being kept prisoner along with a hunky bugbear. Through some trickery and taunting, both of them managed to bait the Kobold into fighting the bugbear, which resulted in the death of all the kobolds but two, who promised to help them both escape should they spare their lives. The group quickly made their way to the exit, killing both kobolds on the way, and then exited the cave, when Oswell was suddenly struck by an arrow to the shoulder. What happens next?
