The Order of the Silver Moon

In short, this organization battles the evil of this world from the shadows. Doing whatever it takes to slay the unholy that would prey on the weak, even if it means taking on some of the aspects of their prey. Many that are in this organization suffer from various afflictions, such as vampirism and lycanthropy, but they choose to use their powers for good. They are hunters and if you prey on the weak, you are their prey.

History

The history of the Order traces back 1000 years to a vampire named Vlad Tepes. Before he became a vampire, Vlad was an ordinary soldier. His life was ordinary until he received news that his mother had died while he was out at war. He rushed home just in time to attend the funeral, but noticed that his father wasn't there. Upon asking some of his town's people what happened, he was struck when it was revealed that his father was the cause of his mother's death. His father was bitten by a werewolf while he was defending the town from an attack by the beast. The town guard told him that his father had run off before the guard could try to restrain him, and now he was wild out in the Ulvenwald. This even set off a chain reaction that could not be stopped. Vlad trained and gathered all the knowledge he could on lycans, then armed himself as best he could to go face his father. What actually happened those long nights in the Ulvenwald nobody but Vlad knows, but we know that he emerged from those dark woods victorious. He presented his father's head to the towns people then put him to rest next to his mother's grave. After this happened Vlad swore an oath that he would deny any horrors of the night the satisfaction of their fear-inducing actions. For the next 35 years, Vlad fought bravely against the horrors of the night, constantly learning new ways to fight them. Then comes to the next part of our story, the fact that Vlad was only human, and his days started their countdown. By this point Vlad had a few loyal followers who shared in his goals and visions, but this was not good enough for Vlad. He wanted to continue his protective watch, but faced with his own mortality he was scrambling for an answer. That's when the idea came to his mind, a rather insane idea. What if they could turn the night creatures' powers against them. After all, the best way to slay your opponent is to get under their skin and figure out what makes them tick. Vlad told his followers of his idea, and even though they were shocked by the plan, they trusted Vlad's Judgment. The next morning he set off alone. Vlad mas able to make a deal with a Grandmother Hag coven, who agreed to infect Vlad with vampirism if he would give them his first born child as payment. Vlad excepted the deal and was turned into a true vampire. When he came to the hag coven was nowhere to be seen, but Vlad could tell that he had been changed. He could feel his thirst for blood, he could see the new paleness of his skin, and most damning of all, the silver necklace he wore had burned into his skin. This is the origin of our motto, "Whatever it takes." The Order understands that sacrifices must be made for the greater good. To us, the ends do justify the means. Vlad sacrificing his own humanity to continue his hunt against the creatures of darkness are what started this Order. Soon after word got out of what he did, most shunned him for the creature he had become, but a select few came to him. Some with lycanthropy that had sworn to be the last of their kind, some who had taken aspects of the undead to further their own goal to defeat them. Some were just normal people who wanted to hunt the horrors to rid the world of them. This is why the Order of the Silver Moon has remained strong, we accept all who share our goals. Unfortunately, we are still held in disregard because some of the "higher authorities" think that the ends must also have just means. So we hunt in secret. We hunt from the shadows so that normal people may walk them without fear. With Vlad Tepes' death 25 years ago, his daughter Gwynevyr Tepes leads us onward. For we are the Hunter of the Silver Moon! When we walk in the moonlight may all evil run from sight, for that is when we are strongest. That is when we Hunt.
