Fynole

This mystical herb can be used as a draining poison with any number of applications. It does its deathly work simply by being a unique repository for rulership, and most persons fail to "hold onto" their rulership and personality when exposed to such (make it a WILL save poison). This quirk also empowers its broad usage in many fantastic applications. Fynole is a common component in most magical crafting as it can accept rulership and continue to crystallize the intentions of the creator to manifest magical properties. In recent years, scholars have identified several other substances (minerals, metals, parts of other plants, or combinations thereof) which can serve much the same purpose as the fynole plant, and have dubbed these "mock fynole" substances "fynics." Theories state that Thurstrundr are an example of how nearly any rocks *can* be fynic if given the right treatment, and that the floatstone in the skylands used to be veins of some ordinary fynic substance which was simply imprinted with nearly unimaginable rulership.
In addition to its usage in enchantment, fynole serves a purpose in many fields from medicine to messaging. While raw fynole can be a dangerous poison without the proper care, in small doses it can serve as an effective treatment for the symptoms of many ailments, especially those of the mind. Paper made with a bit of fynole in the pulp is often used in espionage or performing arts, to imprint deeper meaning along with the message being conveyed (ink mixed with the vital juices of the plant are also used for this purpose, but is far more dangerous to handle).
