A peek into Tylenor [1] Schools of Artifice

[This is the start of a little weekly series I plan on doing to give you all an insight into the DnD setting I am working on. hopefully this should keep me motivated to keep writing more lore and continuing work on my world, and hopefully some of you might enjoy this as well.]   The art of artifice has been around for quite some time, and in the artifical revolution the world of Tylenor currently finds itself in, It's unlikely to go anywhere any time soon. Attempting to trace its routes is a remarkably difficult task, but current information from several primary sources seems to indicate the first artificers came to be in the gnomish kingdom of Gyyxa. in the years following the interlude. (the kingdom is pronounced Geyxa, the Gnomes love to make their settlements near impossible for those who don't speak gnomish to pronounce or spell.) what started as scientific experimentation quickly became a part of their culture, but it should be noted that most gnomes considered artifice as a purely artistic and otherwise only semi practical pursuit, and many gnomes who decide to pursue artifice still hold true to this today.   When Gyxxa merged with the Halfling Kingdom of Gyllengreen to form the new kingdom of Earatxia, (pronounced and often spelled Earataxia by most, but the gnomish queen Lienna insists that is how it should be spelled, and her Halfling husband King Lilian does not want to argue.) the art of artifice began to become less of a state secret and more of a lovely gimmick for the fledgeling kingdom on the eastern continent. This meant that artifice began to spread from there and began to be practised by more races in more nations.   It was then when it eventually reached the many dwarvern kingdoms that presided north of Oslor, then a set of warring clan states fighting over the resources found in the region. most dismissed it as something that indicated the gnomes had way too much free time on their hands, but one clan in particular saw that there might be a way to make use of this new discipline by applying it's concepts to more practical benefits. in the decades that followed this clan would be credited with the creation of various inventions that would help them unite the clans and make a single nation which is now known as the kingdom of Krejik. some of these inventions include blastpowder, the crossbow, the spyglass and some of the first metallic golems. Where the gnomish school of artifice was a purely artistic practice, The dwarves saw the beauty in the practical aspects that could be applied to such a science, a feat that speaks to their resourcefulness and their dedication to both form and function.   several thousand years later and both schools of artifice still have their subscribers, with many gnomes studying Dwarvish artificing and vice versa. Indeed, other cultures have begun to build their own versions of this profession, though are mostly derivative of one of the 2 founding ones. The Artificer has only become far more ambitious since the inception of their role, from the creation of clock towers and mechanical steeds and pets to the copper steam pipes and molten iron river of the Krejikian capital. it's only going to get more interesting from here.
