Seesoun

The Seesoun are thought to be a mythical race of subterranean humanoids who inhabit the Armii'uu Expanse.

Stories claim that the Seesoun Empire encompassed the entire expanse, and they hoarded the wealth of their subterranean empire from the rest of the world, only using it to secretly buy and control rulers of other nations to ensure their existence would be kept a secret from the rest of the world's population.
Myth also states that after generations of living in the sunless expanse, the Seesoun were no longer able to handle the light of the sun without feeling intense pain through their entire body, and the vastness of the sky would send them into uncontrollable fits of insanity. They are said to have slowly devolved into grotesque shadows of their former appearance and the lack of sunlight turned their brains into mush until they were no more intelligent than the fearsome monsters inhabiting the bottomless ocean they once ruled, leaving their vast wealth and power to cumble into nothingness.
Although no Seesoun has been claimed to be seen in centuries, many museums and private collectors will claim many artifacts to be proof of their existence.

Whenever a war begins, or an important person dies, the Seesoun are a common scapegoat to blame for the misfortune. While nearly everyone agrees that the Seesoun do not exist, and most likely never have, there have been some unexplained activities in recent years.
