Crowns

The four nations did not demand extra gifts with their new powers, humble in what they yearned from the gods. When Life suggested crowns, however, they would far from protest. And so, she formed with appropriate energies four crowns that would strengthen the powers of their wearers, each to be manipulated as they were formed solely from energy.   For Aquarius and Avalon, they were forged from gold, to match the life energies of their souls; for Helike and Darvaz, they were colored silver, mirroring the death energies in theirs.   The first she formed was tri-point to match Aquarius' trident; a ring able to morph in size. For Darvaz then, she made a crown with shortened points for candle-flame. For Helike third, spiked rings that fined down to darkened points, nine that could with a hand turn into throwing-knives to match. Finally, for the lagging Avalon, a halo matched the changes in time; a band that gleamed in the light, it would glow upon their head.   When wearing them, those leaders nurturing magics could extend farther than ever before; whether raising an inferno or quenching the light, they could reach beyond mortal bounds. For those who took skills of tongue or mind, their skills were of greater finesse; if they turned to enchanting things, they could add more intricacy to their works.   With all these abilities though, there was a caveat.   The four crowns tie directly to her, their powers supported by her hand; if something were to wound her, they would disintegrate into sand. In a way, their authority rested on protecting Life: to maintain their status, they had to ensure she would not be a victim of strife. Armed with the Royal Weapons, they could in theory fight, but for the nations that held prestige, risking that quickly turned too strong a threat.   And so, Life bound the young nations to her: though sovereign, for several generations they were indebted to her for seemingly endless charity; even in their modern sides, they hasten from disobeying her. Arbiter of their international affairs, their crowns became as much physical debts: reminders of how she had given life to them, and with every removal in her home, reminders that she would always be able to take it all away.

Manufacturing process

Tied to the physical world in carbon counterparts, each were individually enchanted with life or death energies to give them their appearance and malleability. First, they were given their outward appearance with magic affecting them, then made to enhance the powers of their wearers. In both cases, the energy required for the enchantments were left with ties to Life, in a sense constantly taking energy from her, so that they would not wither as long as she stood.
