The Suthis/Kidia conflict, as told from the POV of the Usurper King

"Koth had a long and proud military tradition. We were a strong nation, feared by our enemies. When I was but a child, Queen Melenthe took it upon herself to put an end to this tradition. She would become a peacemaker, and to that end she made peace with our enemies to the north and south. This peace she sealed by sending her two young children to be fostered in foreign courts. Her son and heir returned from his exile with an Elladorian bride, whom he vowed to make his queen.   "But those of us who kept to the old ways knew that what Melenthe and Iral called diplomacy could just as easily be named cowardice and weakness. It was only a matter of time before a more worthy candidate arose from the aristocracy and struck them down, to replace their weak-willed reign with the rule of strength. With the backing of our noble allies and under the auspices of Ariel, I became the one to strike the decisive blow. But you remember all that yourself, don't you, my child?"
