Fight for Metamorphosis
Beast-kin society has encouraged the strong and powerful to excel. As such, when a Beast-kin child comes of age, they are tested by physical trial. Expected to use their magic to boost their strength, they are set to battle a Harpie at the edge ofThe Wastelands. It is a sacred 'secret' ritual (in which it is not told about to the other races in Turien, and the Council has done its part in keeping the event hidden).
Sometime within the 20th year of a Beast-kin's life, a Dragon-kin will arrive at their door and fly them to the crater they set the event to take place at. A Harpie is then thrown into the crater and the Dragon-kin King will move the preset stones to enact a barrier over the crater. The Dragon-kin King will watch over the fight until either the Harpie or the Beast-kin has died.
Before the event and after the event, there isn't much said aloud. As the event nears, parents will extra encourage their children to train up their strength and prowess, but that hardly deviated from normal Beast-kin behaviour. Afterwards, there is a mere acknowledgement that the Beast-kin is alive. It would be an irregularity for the actual event to be mentioned.
Once the battle has ended, the Beast-kin has now achieved the right to become an adult. Their metamorphosis into an adult has begun. Each species of Beast-kin go through a different kind of metamorphosis, however, it can never start unless they are acknowledged by the Dragon-kin King after their battle in the crater. Physiological changes commence and they are shed of any childish visuals.
