Hobgoblins

Hobgoblins feature in many ancient stories as unfriendly, militaristic people who focus their energy single-mindedly towards training for war. This is little more than a racist fantasy created by primordial lords who ruled the Mortal World before the People's War. In reality, hobgoblins are simply prone to isolation in their distant conclaves, where they do indeed hone their skills to a razor's edge. However, where the tales concocted for propaganda discouraging thoughts of mortal freedom insist that these skills are those of war, hobgoblins mainly practice to understand the arcane.   Indeed, few people have advanced the field of mysticism as the hobgoblin. Long-held, superstitious beliefs held by elves, tieflings, and humans have been confirmed (or refuted) by hobgoblin sages, and no race has such skill or sight when it comes to unraveling the mysteries of the Universe.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Hobgoblins are recognizable by their faces more than anything. The rest of their bodies appear almost identical to human bodies, if a little more stout and prone to heaviness. Hobgoblin faces possess the trademark goblinoid snout, with a flat nose, heavily angled cheeks, and severely pointed ears. Additionally, hobgoblin skin has a narrow range of coloration, including purples, reds, and darker shades of pink. Hobgoblin hair tends to range on the darker side, with few hobgoblins having lighter hair usually associated with fair skin.

Growth Rate & Stages

Hobgoblins have incredibly long lifespans. Many of the most ancient hobgoblins have lived for almost a thousand years.
