Universal Antivenin
Utility
The antivenin is not as explicitly effective as say horse antivenin of the specific biter. That said, universal antivenin's effectiveness is proven and reliable. You may still feel pain, swelling, and other terrible symptoms of a venomous bite, but your chances of suffocating or going into shock drop significantly.
It should be noted that the term 'universal' is somewhat of a misnomer. The jackalope being only native to Waihohn means that its immune system, hearty as it is, is not prepared against venom you may find outside of Waihohn. There have been trials to see the effectiveness of jackalope antivenin on a Qalean arrow-snake bite and other Coulesian venoms. Theses tests showed little to no effectiveness.
Manufacturing
The antivenin is derived from the blood of the jackalope and while by the time it gets to the user, they must simply inject the serum, its production is more detailed.
The antibodies are only produced by the jackalope in response to venom or a simulative inflammatory. Since venom itself is difficult to harvest, often the jackalope will be coaxed into producing antibodies with the use of electric shock or magical irritation.
Once produced, a sample of the blood must be drawn. Given the size of the jackalope, not much can be taken at one time and the intention is to leave the animal alive and well. The blood sample is let sit to separate and the plasma is harvested and diluted into the final product.
Access & Availability
Jackalopes are rare and the process in which their antibodies are harvested yields very little. At the current time it is only available for research but with the discovery under the ownership of the Boscom Trade Company, its widespread commercial availability is the focus of many of the nations finest. Not only could this save hundreds of lives, it could enter Boscom Trade into the extremely lucrative pharmaceutical trade.
Discovery
Doctor Herman Burl witnessed a rattlesnake bite a jackalope and though the critter bled, he followed it through the grass to discover it showed no signs of venom sickness. Dr. Burl began research into the immunity properties of the jackalope soon after.
