Oni (oh-knee)

Oni Traits

Ability Score Increase. Your Strength score increases by 2 and Your Constitution increase by 1
Alignment. The process of becoming an Oni can corrupt and twist one’s perception making most lean towards the evil alignment. However some Oni can retain their memories and personality through willpower, making them retain their alignment they had before.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Prey. While in complete darkness, humanoid creatures within 60ft of you glow a bright red. Only you can see this glow.
Sunlight Sensitivity: You have disadvantage on attack rolls and on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight when you, the target of your attack, or whatever you are trying to perceive is in direct sunlight.
Blood Demon Art. You possess a magical spell which identifies you as an Oni. Choose a level one spell from the sorcerer’s spell list. You can cast this spell once a day and regain use of this ability after a long rest. You may also choose one cantrip from the sorcerer’s spell list. Strength is your spellcasting modifier while using this ability.
Languages. You can read and write both Common and Abyssal.

Basic Information

Biological Traits

Being the offspring of humans and demons, they share a lot of their physical traits with that of a normal human. The ears of oni can be more angled like those of a half elf but that isn't a guaranteed trait. The most notable traits that Oni seem to share is pale skin, sharper eyes, eye color of a red hue (so either blood red or light pink) and their sharpened claws like nails. Though, some have been unfortunate enough to be cursed/born with multiple limbs or even heads.

Civilization and Culture

History

Just like each Oni, their history is all based on the individual. Some tales tell of a human and demon who fell madly in love and their ospring came out as a mix of the two. Others tell of a person who made a deal with the demon but betrayed the demon. So the demon cursed the human to walk as it does and see what it sees, turning him into an Oni. Whether by curse, blood or some other means the oni’s history is as diverse as the ones who call themselves Oni.

Lifespan

Due to their demonic heritage they often live up to 200 years old. Once they reach an age of maturity their features stop aging

Average Height

Like humans, Oni can vary widely in height and build, from barely 5 feet to well over 6 feet tall. Regardless of your position in that range, your size is Medium.
