Varkin, Forlorn
Varkins who reject both sides of their heritage, whether it be directly against their parents or to distant ancestors, and instead embrace the gifts of Murrthir herself.
• Ability Score Modifiers: Forlorn varkins utterly dedicate themselves to their chosen path which always has a cost. A forlorn varkin gains a +4 racial bonus to a single ability score of their choice however they also gain a -2 racial penalty to two linked ability scores of their choice. Forlorn varkins must choose between Str & Wis, Dex & Int or Con & Cha and they cannot choose a pair that contains the same ability score as their ability score bonus. This racial trait replaces the usual Varkin ability score modifiers and Varkin Magic.
• Single-minded: Forlorn varkins gain a +2 racial bonus on Will saving throws. In addition, if a forlorn varkin fails such a save, they receive another save 1 round later to prematurely end the effect (assuming the spell or spell-like ability has a duration greater than 1 round). This second save is made at the same DC as the first. If the forlorn varkin has a similar ability from another source (such as a rogue’s slippery mind class feature), they can only use one of these abilities per round but can try the other on the second round if the first re-roll ability fails. This racial trait replaces Observant and the bonus against Enchantment spells and effects from Alfur Immunities.
