Errant, Skyborne

Because most other saurtara have a strong preference towards the Crone, Errants from the skyborne colonies are often hesitant to mate with Matriarchs from the mainland, let alone the Seaborne Isles where the Crone holds greater sway. Skyborn Errants are therefore almost always found on the various Skyborne Islands. Although they have been known to travel to the mainland and sometimes even the Seaborne Islands on occasion, although they rarely stay for long.

Skyborn Errants have tough but flexible spines along their arms, legs and tail which they can erect, extending out tough skin which allows them to glide.

• Ability Scores: Skyborn Errants aren't as strong as their common cousins, however their shorter stature and lighter build makes them quicker and more agile. They gain +2 Dexterity, +2 Wisdom and -2 Charisma. This racial trait replaces the normal Errant Ability Score modifiers.
• Aerial Adaptation: Skyborn Errants take no damage from falling (as if subject to a constant non-magical feather fall spell). While in midair, they can move up to 5 feet in any horizontal direction for every 1 foot they fall, at a speed of up to 60 feet per round. A Skyborn Errant cannot gain height with these 'wings' alone; they merely coast in other directions as they fall. If subjected to a strong wind or any other effect that causes them to rise, they can take advantage of the updraft to increase the distance they can glide. This racial trait replaces Multitalented.
• Aerial Balance: A Skyborn Errant's tail makes them more adept at flying than swimming, giving them a +2 racial bonus on fly checks. This racial trait replaces the racial bonus to swim checks from Counter-balance.
• Special Note: Because Skyborn Errants tend to be much shorter and lighter than their common cousins reduce their starting height by 1 ft and their starting weight by 90 lbs.
