Errant, Chameleon
Chameleon Errants can change the colouration of their scales to mimic their surroundings, allowing them to hide in plain sight provided that they don't move around too much. They are more often found in jungles and forests but their ability to alter the colour and pattern of their scales is potentially useful for any colony, so they can be found almost anywhere in the world. Within more aggressive colonies or when at war, chameleon Errants are often called upon to act as scouts and even assassins.
• Ability Scores: Chameleon Errants aren't as strong as their common cousins, however their shorter stature and lighter build makes them quicker and more agile. They gain +2 Dexterity, +2 Wisdom and -2 Charisma. This racial trait replaces the normal Errant Ability Score modifiers.
• Chameleon Scales: Chameleon Errants can control the colouration and pattern of their scales, allowing them to blend into their surroundings. This gives them a +4 racial bonus on stealth checks to avoid being seen (not Stealth checks to avoid being heard). In addition, so long as a chameleon Errant doesn't move more than 5ft in a round then they can use their scales to hide provided they are within 10ft of some sort of cover. This benefit is lost after they move more than 5ft or take an action that would break an invisibility spell, but they can still catch others by surprise when doing so for their first attack/action. This racial trait replaces Multitalented and Saurtara Scales.
• Sticky Tongue: Chameleon Errants can make melee attacks with their long, sticky tongues. This is a secondary attack. A creature hit by this attack cannot move more than 10 feet away from the attacker and takes a –2 penalty to AC as long as the tongue is attached (this penalty does not stack if multiple tongues are attached). The tongue can be removed by the target or an adjacent ally by making an opposed Strength check against the attacking creature as a standard action or by dealing 2 points of damage to the tongue (AC 11, damage does not reduce the chameleon Errant’s hit points). A chameleon Errant cannot move more than 10 feet away from a creature stuck to its tongue, but it can release its tongue from the target as a free action. They can only have one creature attached to their tongue at a time. This racial trait replaces Counter-balance.
• Special Note: Because chameleon Errants tend to be much shorter and lighter than their common cousins reduce their starting height by 1 foot and their starting weight by 60 lbs.
