Odile

The Odile are the largest of the sentient species of the Realm of Alpha.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Odile are large for a non-dragon sentient species. They have a pair of massive legs which hold their crouched form. They have long arms that run most of the way to the ground. Long tails run out their backside with a ridge of spines running down their spine at regular intervals. Their heads are elongated but not as much as the alligators of the Realm of Pi. Instead they have more bulk to their jaws giving them and even more powerful bite force. Much of the time Odile walk on only their feet but they can come down to all four for sprinting and some find that mode of locomotion more comfortable.

Genetics and Reproduction

After intercourse, in which the male fertilizes the females eggs. After three months a set of three to five eggs will be laid each the size of a watermelon. This process is surprisingly painless for the mother, and they do this every three months with or without fertilization. From their the eggs will incubate for another nine months at which point infant Odile emerge. The sex of the infant is not determined until puberty based on the ingestion of calories.

Growth Rate & Stages

Odile go through four life stages. There is the egg stage in which they gestate in an egg for nine months. During this time they must be kept warm by the parents normally accomplished by heating dirt or other non-flamable material and buring the eggs in that taking care to rotate the heated material once a day to keep the temperatrue. Their second stage of life is the wyrmling stage. In this stage the body grows but at a much slower rate than the brain which spends much of this time growing more and more complex. Untill the age of five Odile infants are as helpless as a pre one year old human. Past this they start maturing at a rate slower than humans. Stage three is the puberty stage. Durring this time they grow massively. The bulk of their growth in life happens during the six years of puberty. Depending on how much calories they get their sex will differ based on that. If they get their base need to arround ten percent more they will end up male, if they get thirty percent past their base need or more they will develop female. Those between will develop both sexual organs with one or the other being 'non functional' for reproductive means, though not the act. After the puberty takes its course the Odile reach the final stage of their life, and the one which they will spend much of their life. They continue to grow for the rest of their life though at a very slowed pace after puberty. Generally speaking you can tell the age of a Odile by size most primarily. Unlike many species Odile do not have a natural maxium life span and can if kept in good health live for centuries.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Odile are primarily carnavores and need to eat a protein high diet. They can subside on plant based alternatives if prepared properly, they do not have the teeth to chew their food so the plant based food must be pureed and the plant based alternative is high enough in protein.

Biological Cycle

Odile must be careful to not drop too low or too hot in temperature. They have limited ability to regulate that without a body of water to soak in. This makes the Realm of Fire and The Realm of Ice places of great hostility to the Odile. On Alpha the season are much less sever and as such the changing of them is unimpactful to the Odile.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Odile have excellent sense of smell as well as the second best eyesight of the sentients of Alpha. They can see well at range but have a more limited sense of color, green and browns mesh together for them. Despite their thick skin they have near human sensitivity to touch.
