222 / 07 / 20 - Fate of Lost Lancers

Our regular readers may recall reports about a missing patrol of Eastside Lancers. There was much speculation at the time that their disappearance was due to an expansion of activity by the Thrikeen. However, we can now reveal that this disappearance had nothing to do with that long subdued threat. A yet to be indentified eyewitness camw forward to provide vital information on this matter. According to this witness the Lancers had riden into a long abandoned village and found some people attampting to rebuild. Some of the Lancers wanted to take advantage of the situation and rob these new settlers. When their comrades objected a fight broke out and in the end those wishing to take advantage of others won out. The loyal lancers and the settlers were killed with only one witness remaining hidden and alive.   Needless to say these claims were not instantly believed, but they were serious enough that the council decided to send out the outer guard to investigate. The witness agreed to acompany them to show them the location. A review of the scene provided evidence that there had been a fight between people on horseback and the remains that were found were those of some of our lancers along with several people who were unknown to all apart from the witness. While there is no direct evidence against the lancers who remaining missing, the fact that they have not reported back in may be taken as an admission of guilt. The council is viewing it as such and has issued ordered for the lancers to be arrested if they should make an appearance.   The remains of the brave lancers who stood up for the settlers have. been transported back to be given the proper rites. All of them are to be honoured at a ceremnony next Marday and their families will receive additional golds in recognistion of their service.
