Aina of Anu Character in Treasure Box | World Anvil

Aina of Anu

"Revenge never tasted as sweet."
Aina is considered to be the most talented ribbon dancer of all time and was the first one to incorporate metal bells into her performances and therefore being able to produce her own music while dancing or enhance the one already playing. Ever since the assassination of the crown prince of the realm, her whereabouts are unknown.   She is rumoured to be a personal maid of the princess of the recently fallen Anu tribe, that has been conquered by the empire some seven years ago. While she never confirmed or tried to dissipate such rumours, she most definitely was a member of said tribe and incorporates some of its motives and melodies into her performances. This mixture of mystery, elegance and exoticism has given a new breath to the traditional art of ribbon dancing.   Her rise to popularity had also some positive effect on people coming from smaller tribes not to be treated by society as complete barbarians as was usually the pattern. However, artists and performers are frequently used as pawns or spies in the many family and clan feuds there are in politics, and it seems like Aina was not the exception of that. She was able to use her innocent face and freshness of her art to never raise enough suspicion of taking any sides, until she made it to the imperial palace itself.   While mostly performing alone for the generals of the imperial army while returning with the spoils of war, it didn't take her long to catch an eye of the sons of many nobles within the army leadership. Therefore, after returning to the capital, she was a frequent guests at many banquets and feasts, usually perfmorming with other dancers surrounding her, while she danced on an elevated stage.   It is said that the music of the bells tied to her ankles, was heard all over the city when she danced and was carried by the wind of heaven for everyone to catch a glimpse of her extraordinary talents. Her sudden disappearance brought sadness to many who didn't even get to see her.

Good job on the writing. It is short but you get across her talent and the subtle hints to her possibly wanting revenge on the royal family. I was wondering if anything else happened as it seems like she was free of suspicion until making it to the imperial palace. Did she get more politically involved after that?

Feel free to stop by some of my WorldEmber articles if you want. My favorites are The Book of the Unquiet Dead, Outpost of the Moons, and The Emerald Hills. Feedback is always appreciated.

Quite an interesting performance method with the bells. Also like how her performances reflect her background.

Nice character. I like the use of ribbon dancing to make music :D Are there any rumours going around to possibly explain her disappearance?

Intriguing character! :D You piqued my interest with the opening quote, but then I didn't see the revenge being described, though it was suggested that she entered the palace. Is it something you could elaborate on or a vital part of the story and should be ████████?   I'd love to know more about the Anu and the empire. A tooltip or redirect to the main article (if applicable) would be awesome.   Thanks for a pleasant read!
