Wind
Born in Freehold, Wind escaped a dreadful fate as a young teen and smuggled himself through the Living Wall by stowing away on a merchant ship. Out in the world, he discovered a thirst for knowledge that drove him to the biggest, best school available, the Emporium of Knowledge in Iskander's Watch. He stayed there and studied his way into an assistant professorship, which ironically took him back to Freehold.
He has the characteristic orangey-bronze skin of his kind, and the telltale glowing eyes. No one would ever mistake him for anything other than a Freeholder, a source of constant irritation. Because Wind would prefer to forget everything about his homeland, and the repressive culture he came from...
